Around July 27 and 28, 2026, Australian GTA Online players found the Diamond Casino's wagering dead: blackjack, roulette, three-card poker, slot machines, Inside Track betting, penthouse gambling and the daily Lucky Wheel spin all stopped responding. Red Dead Online's card games were affected too.

The selectivity is the story

Chip buying and selling still works, the 1,000 free daily chips still collect, casino story missions still run, and the casino clothing store is untouched. A bug would not carve so neatly around everything that involves wagering, and a datamined territory code reported by GTA BOOM, naming the dataminer TexFunz2, indicates a deliberate, targeted block. Rockstar has said nothing. Context matters here: the casino has had per-territory gambling restrictions since it opened in July 2019, covering more than fifty territories, so Australia is a new entry on an old list.

The candidate explanations

Australian creator DarkViperAU, posting from the affected region, wrote that he would "assume it was out of caution to comply with Australia's March 2026 online safety and age assurance rules", wording he explicitly framed as an assumption. Two dated rules fit the timing: the eSafety Commissioner codes that took effect on March 9, 2026, and the September 22, 2024 classification guidelines requiring a mandatory minimum R 18+ rating for games containing simulated gambling, while GTA Online carries MA 15+ in Australia. Which rule, if either, caused the block is unresolved. A 2025 datamine of GTA Online age-verification strings cited the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark and Greece; Australia was not on that list, and there is no evidence the system has shipped.

GTA 6 implications

Nothing has been announced about casino or gambling content in GTA 6, in Australia or anywhere else; any claim that the GTA 6 casino is "confirmed cut" is invention, and any read-across from this block is inference. See rating status and GTA Online's future.
