Grassrivers is the wetland region of Leonida, confirmed by name on Rockstar's official site as one of the state's six regions. It is the map's wild interior: waterways, dense vegetation, and an ecosystem in which the animals behave as part of the simulation rather than as decorative scenery. Rockstar's site leans into the menace, teasing that something "even more dangerous lies beneath the surface" of the wetlands. The community mapping of Grassrivers to the real Florida Everglades is analysis, not a Rockstar statement, though the swamp setting makes it the consensus read.

Wildlife

The region's signature moment in the trailers is a security-camera clip of an alligator wandering into a convenience store, which community analysis links to a real 2013 incident in Apopka, Florida. Alligators on land and sharks offshore are confirmed in official footage, and official screenshots of the region show airboat docks and armed swamp locals, sketching a backwater culture built around the water. The bolder environmental claims circulating, such as hurricanes, floods, and dynamic tides, remain unconfirmed rumors.

Gameplay implications

Corroborated reporting on the reworked wanted system gives the swamps a tactical angle: K-9 units that can track players through tall grass become a specific threat in a region defined by low visibility and dense cover. Hunting appears on the game's confirmed activity roster and fits the region's character, though Rockstar has not tied specific activities to Grassrivers.
