Rockstar Games is the developer of Grand Theft Auto VI, due November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. Its UK operations span five studios, in Edinburgh, London, Leeds, Lincoln and Dundee, the sites covered by the workers union that launched there in May 2026 (see Rockstar Games Workers Union).

Community platforms

In August 2023 Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, with the Rockstar Newswire stating the team was "now officially part of Rockstar Games". The move brought the largest GTA custom-server ecosystem in-house, and was followed on January 12, 2026 by the launch of the Cfx Marketplace, an official paid mod storefront. In April 2026 Rockstar shipped its own first-party Mission Creator for GTA Online, launched the week of April 30 alongside the Community Mission Series, letting players build and share missions inside the game's own systems, with Rockstar curating and rewarding the best of them.

Security and hiring

Rockstar has described a "zero-tolerance approach to leaks", a stance that hardened after the September 2022 breach in which roughly 90 development clips escaped, the only large-scale GTA 6 leak the studio has confirmed as genuine (see the 2022 leak). An audit of the company's public Greenhouse job board on July 30, 2026 counted 79 open roles, clustered around game security and the Creator Platform team, with not one posting mentioning GTA 6 by name (see Rockstar's hiring board).

The studio confirmed GTA 6's development publicly only after the 2022 breach forced its hand, and has since run what coverage describes as its shortest marketing campaign ever, a digital-first strategy set out by Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick.
