Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025 and ran 2 minutes 47 seconds. Its first 24 hours pulled more than 475 million views across all platforms, a figure Rockstar described as the fastest-growing video launch in internet history, later climbing past 500 million. On YouTube alone it managed roughly 70 to 75 million, short of Trailer 1's Guinness mark of 90,421,491, so the two trailers split the records between them.
Rockstar stated the trailer "was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes", on a base PS5 rather than a Pro. A "Captured on PS5" notice appears around the 2:42 mark. Digital Foundry's analysis estimated an internal resolution around 1152p upscaled to 4K at 30fps, with ray-traced global illumination. The full picture is in our technical breakdown.
Story-wise, the trailer centers on Jason and Lucia reuniting after Lucia's release from prison, shows Lucia wearing an ankle monitor, and puts the pair on the dance floor of the NINE1NINE club. Fans uploaded all of its roughly 5,000-plus frames for frame-by-frame analysis.
It was also a music event. Alongside the lead track Hot Together, listeners identified Everybody Have Fun Tonight, Talkin' to Myself Again, Child Support and Thunder Island, plus a disputed cut of I Love Rock 'n' Roll over the Ammu-Nation commercial around 2:09.
