GTA 6 Roleplay
GTA roleplay is improvised, character-driven multiplayer on PC servers. GTA 6 RP needs a PC version and tooling; the scene stays on GTA 5 for now.

Roleplay is the reason GTA multiplayer outgrew its own game. In GTA RP, players adopt a persistent character in a shared city, a cop, a paramedic, a gang member, a shop owner, and improvise stories within server rules. Serious servers are whitelisted, with applications and character backstories required, and the best of them run economies, factions and courts that persist for years. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy calls it "improvisational performance art," and he means it literally: he streams GTA RP himself under a character name.
The scale of the scene
Roleplay is also a spectator sport. GTA 5 logged 1.39 billion hours watched on Twitch across 2024, making it the platform's most-watched game, a staggering figure for a 2013 release, and analysts attribute that staying power to RP servers like NoPixel, whose storylines viewers follow like serialized drama. The streaming side of the scene is covered on the Twitch GTA RP and Kick GTA RP pages.
Why RP lives on PC, and what GTA 6 needs
RP runs on FiveM, a PC modding platform built specifically for GTA 5. GTA 6 launches console-only with no PC version dated, so the infrastructure roleplay depends on cannot move over on day one; the full reasoning is in our FiveM-on-GTA-6 explainer. Clancy's own prediction, made in June 2025, is that GTA 5 roleplay stays dominant on Twitch even after GTA 6 arrives, precisely because of that gap. GTA 6 RP needs two things that do not yet exist: a PC release and official tooling. Rockstar is visibly assembling pieces, the Cfx.re acquisition, the Cfx Marketplace, the NoPixel V partnership, but none of it is dated for GTA 6.
