Project ROME is the name attached to a rumored Rockstar online modding and creator engine, surfaced through datamined references reported by dataminer Tez2. As described in reporting, the toolset would let players build custom maps, items and game modes from inside the game itself, which coverage has compared to Roblox and Fortnite Creative. Rockstar has said nothing about it.
The caveat most coverage skips
Tez2 confirmed the Project ROME references only in connection with GTA 5, not GTA 6. Every headline attaching ROME to GTA 6 is third-party inference stacked on a leak. It is plausible that a creator engine built for Rockstar's online ecosystem would eventually reach GTA 6, but plausible is not confirmed, and the sourcing does not currently support the GTA 6 link at all.
The adjacent UGC reporting
A separate thread has more journalism behind it and fewer specifics: a Digiday report claims Rockstar has spoken with Fortnite, Roblox and GTA creators about designing custom experiences, and outlets have reported a Roblox-style user-generated-content direction for GTA 6's online future. That is secondhand reporting with no named tooling, timing or platform, so it belongs in the rumor column alongside ROME, as does everything on the online successor page.
About "SixM"
"SixM" is a community nickname for a hypothetical GTA 6 successor to FiveM. It appears nowhere in any official material: an audit of Rockstar's public job board on July 30, 2026 found no "SixM," and no GTA 6 mention of any kind, across all 79 open listings, including the Creator Platform roles covered on the dedicated servers page. Anyone presenting SixM as a product name is naming something that does not officially exist.
