GTA 6 32-Player Leak

The best-known GTA 6 multiplayer number did not come from a trailer or an insider. It came from a courtroom. Everything below is leaked legal material plus the interpretation built on it, and none of it is a Rockstar announcement.
Where the messages came from
The material surfaced through a UK employment tribunal brought by the IWGB union over Rockstar's dismissal of a group of more than 30 developers in late 2025, a dispute covered on the Rockstar union page. During January 2026 proceedings, internal Discord messages entered the public record. One developer wrote:
"They mentioned the large session we did today being 'too difficult to do,' but that was 32 players."
A reply in the same thread referenced QA testers across multiple studios organising that 32-player session. Court access itself was unusual: YouTuber Chris Bratt of People Make Games read the physical court copies in Glasgow, and Rockstar's barrister considered some messages sensitive enough to ask the judge to read them privately.
What the number does and does not mean
Press coverage read the message as a hint that GTA 6 Online could support "at least 32" players per lobby. That is interpretation. The message describes a test session that was achieved, with something larger considered difficult, and Rockstar has never confirmed the figure applies to GTA 6 Online at all. For context, current GTA Online sessions run around 30 players, so 32 would be a modest step rather than a leap, and FiveM roleplay servers already run hundreds to thousands on GTA 5.
The gen-AI message
The same filings contained a February 2025 message: "I would both love and hate to know what uses of gen AI legal have approved." Coverage connecting that line to procedural interiors or NPC systems is speculation layered on a single sentence about legal approvals. The messages are real; every feature claim attached to them is guesswork. See multiplayer status for what is actually confirmed.
