Grand Theft Auto VI reworks how weapons are carried, customized and themed, and by August 2026 an unusual amount of that is confirmed by Rockstar's own pre-order materials rather than leaks.

A capped, garage-based loadout

Weapon carry is capped at a realistic loadout of two handguns and one long gun, per Rockstar's June 2026 product listing as reported by Complex. Changing that setup means returning to a garage: each of the game's personal garages includes a weapons locker for customizing the loadout, and Rockstar names Paradise Garage in Watson Bay and the Shore Court Garage near Ocean Beach. Kotaku compared the system to Red Dead Redemption 2's lockers and loadouts, a sharp break from GTA 5's carry-everything arsenal. Full detail at weapon carry system.

Two-layer customization

Official screenshots confirm both skins and attachments, pointing to a two-layer system: cosmetic finishes on top of functional add-ons. The system's existence is confirmed; how attachments affect handling has not been shown. See weapon customization.

Brands, engravings and Vercetti callbacks

Rockstar's website names two new gun brands: "Personalized sidearms with detailed engravings for Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol." Fans have decoded Vice City release dates in both serial numbers; see each page for those readings, labelled as fan analysis. The Vintage Vice City Pack adds a tropical weapon pattern for most guns "inspired by Tommy Vercetti's iconic palm tree button-up", and the Ultimate Edition includes revolvers "sourced from the Vercetti Estate."

Shops and leaks

Ammu-Nation returns, appearing in trailer footage and a Trailer 2 commercial. One prominent unverified claim also circulates: a Beebom-reported leak that guns not holstered are stored in the vehicle trunk rather than carried freely. That is a leak, not a confirmation, though a trailer moment of a weapon pulled from a trunk, echoing Tommy Vercetti and Lance Vance in 2002's Vice City, keeps the theory alive.
