When Trailer 2 dropped on May 6, 2025, it pulled more than 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours, a figure Rockstar described as the fastest-growing video launch in internet history. The total later climbed past 500 million.
The record it took
The 475 million-plus figure, Rockstar's own claim relayed through Game Rant and shared with The Hollywood Reporter, displaced the previous all-platform 24-hour record holder, the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer, which managed 365 million views in its first day; Fantastic Four: First Steps landed near 200 million. On the broadest possible measure, counting every place the video appeared at once, GTA 6 Trailer 2 is the biggest video launch the internet has seen.
The record it missed
On YouTube alone, Trailer 2 reached roughly 70 to 75 million views in 24 hours, the exact number varying by tracker, which fell short of the 90,421,491-view Guinness mark held by Trailer 1 (see the Guinness record). Both records therefore belong to GTA 6, split between its own two trailers.
Why the split happened
The explanation is structural rather than a matter of appetite. Trailer 1 was a YouTube exclusive, concentrating all launch-day demand on a single counter. Trailer 2 went live everywhere at once, amplified by simultaneous reposts from official PlayStation, Xbox and X accounts, which is ideal for a cross-platform total and less ideal for beating a YouTube-only mark. The same release decision produced both outcomes.
