Grand Theft Auto VI's first trailer holds an official Guinness World Record: the most viewed video game reveal trailer on YouTube in 24 hours, at exactly 90,421,491 views, a record recognized on December 5, 2023.

How the record was set

Trailer 1 released on December 4, 2023 as a YouTube exclusive, and that concentration is precisely what made the number possible: every bit of launch-day demand funnelled into a single counter rather than being spread across platforms. The figure is primary-sourced straight from Guinness World Records, which makes it one of the most solid numbers in the entire GTA 6 record conversation.

Why it still stands

When Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, it set a different mark, the biggest all-platform video launch in history at more than 475 million views in 24 hours (see Trailer 2's record). But on YouTube specifically, Trailer 2 reached roughly 70 to 75 million views in its first day, short of the 90.4 million bar it needed to clear. Released everywhere simultaneously, it was structurally set up to win the cross-platform crown and miss the single-platform one.

The scoreboard reads simply: Trailer 1 owns the official Guinness YouTube record for a game reveal, Trailer 2 owns the all-platform 24-hour launch record, and both belong to GTA 6. The competition for these milestones was not other studios; it was Rockstar's own previous trailer.
