Twitch's leadership has been unusually public about Grand Theft Auto VI, which chief marketing officer Mike Minton says "will likely be the biggest game of our lives".
Launch preparation
Per Dexerto's reporting of Minton's comments, Twitch plans to support Rockstar "from the start", building out clip discoverability, creator monetisation tools and Drops for GTA 6, with a phased rollout that prioritises single-player first and multiplayer later, matching expectations that the online mode follows the single-player launch (see multiplayer status). Asked specifically about official Twitch roleplay servers, Minton said: "Yes. I can't say anything specific about that, but we are definitely having active discussions", a reported quote pointing at something in progress rather than a confirmed product. Kai Cenat is expected to run a launch marathon, a reported expectation rather than a locked plan.
The CEO's contrarian bet
Chief executive Dan Clancy has predicted that GTA 5 roleplay remains dominant on Twitch even after GTA 6 arrives, because the RP scene lives on PC through FiveM while GTA 6 launches console-first with no dated PC version and no roleplay mode at launch. The numbers behind that view are substantial: GTA 5 logged 1.39 billion hours watched on Twitch across 2024, making it the most-watched game on the platform and second overall only to Just Chatting. Clancy is hands-on with the subject, having described GTA roleplay as "improvisational performance art", mused that theatre schools could teach it, and streamed GTA RP himself under a character name.
