Rockstar Rewrote Three Xbox GTA 6 Records in a 2h 15m Window
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news7 min read
THE ONLY ROCKSTAR CONTROLLED SURFACE ANYWHERE THAT MOVED IN THE WINDOW IS THE XBOX BACK END. Read from displaycatalog.mp.microsoft.com at HTTP 200 and 131,679 bytes at 2026-10-23T03:09:39Z, then confirmed unchanged on a five product read at 210,620 bytes at 03:14:12Z. THE THREE COMPONENT RECORDS, IN THE ORDER THEY LANDED: 9PN4LLBR8RCH, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, Durable, LastModifiedDate 2026-10-22T22:53:48.4206550Z with RevisionId 22:53:52.0925930Z; 9PLVSSH8849X, the Vintage Vice City Pack, Durable, 2026-10-23T00:54:47.1770827Z with revision 00:54:53.0833941Z; and 9NL3WWNZLZZN, THE BASE GAME COMPONENT, 2026-10-23T01:08:53.6554429Z with revision 01:08:58.5306329Z. The availability records on the base game carry their own LastModifiedDate of 2026-10-23T00:59:00.3954123Z. THE TWO STOREFRONT PARENTS DID NOT MOVE: 9P3H4968GRSM still reads 2026-10-16T17:01:19.0718342Z and 9NNZSNHLR63L still reads 2026-10-16T17:07:09.2120467Z. The 2h 15m 05s span is arithmetic from the first and last of the three timestamps. ALL FIVE SHARE ProductGroupId 8f650646-a94d-4565-83ff-527e37c867b7, with the standard parent bundling 9NL3WWNZLZZN at IsPrimary true and rank 0 plus 9PLVSSH8849X at rank 1, and the Ultimate parent bundling 9NL3WWNZLZZN at 0, 9PN4LLBR8RCH at 1 and 9PLVSSH8849X at 2. TWO THINGS ARE DELIBERATELY WITHHELD AND BOTH ARE REFUSALS RATHER THAN GAPS. FIRST, WHAT CHANGED INSIDE THOSE RECORDS IS UNKNOWN AND NO GUESS IS OFFERED, because the previous cycle recorded only the two parent ids so there is no prior snapshot of the three components to diff, and the researcher who found this rates the timestamps HIGH and the question of what moved LOW. SECOND, NO DOWNLOAD SIZE OR INSTALL SIZE APPEARS ANYWHERE IN THIS ARTICLE, because the package row is a staging placeholder: its install size field reads 0, its version string reads "0", its package URI and both download URIs point at productingestionbin1.blob.core.windows.net which is Microsoft's ingestion staging blob, and ValidationData.PassedValidation reads false on all five GTA VI products. WHAT THE ROW DOES GIVE IS STABLE IDENTIFIERS FOR FUTURE DIFFS: PackageFormat XVC, architecture x64, PlatformDependencies listing Windows.Xbox ONLY with no Windows desktop dependency, PackageFamilyName RockstarGamesInc.28872443D20A7_k2ss7vbb13xte and XboxTitleId 2035456122. TEXT ROCKSTAR RE-PUBLISHED INSIDE THE WINDOW: the base game description states flatly "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience" and sets the pre-order terms, a month of GTA+ to be redeemed within 180 days, unavailable to restricted child accounts, limited to one redemption per Platform Account, and a cutoff of 19 November 2026 23:59:59 that SITS ABOUT NINETEEN HOURS AFTER the availability windows which expire 2026-11-19T04:59:59Z. CONTEXT FOR WHY THIS IS THE ONLY MOVEMENT: rockstargames.com/VI was byte identical on two reads at 1,205,772 bytes with MD5 8e42d9b809317caf0ebcb11048ff388a, the Newswire's newest post is still the 15 October one in all seven locales checked, and 576 of 576 static assets carry a single 15 October Last-Modified value. LIMITS: a catalogue timestamp is not a release decision; the five product id set comes from the bundle graph plus the storefront markup because Microsoft's free text search route returned HTTP 404 and its autosuggest HTTP 400, so a sixth product with no inbound link would not surface. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and every fetch used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL rather than crawling.
Rockstar re-ingested all three of the underlying Grand Theft Auto VI records in Microsoft's Xbox product catalogue inside a 2 hour 15 minute 5 second span between 2026-10-22T22:53:48Z and 2026-10-23T01:08:53Z. The two public storefront products did not move with them. With launch pinned at 2026-11-19T05:00:00Z, the last of those writes landed 27 days out, and it is the only Rockstar controlled surface anywhere that moved in this cycle's research window.
What moved, and exactly when
Every row below was read from displaycatalog.mp.microsoft.com/v7.0/products with market=US and languages=en-US, at HTTP 200. The three component records were read first at 2026-10-23T03:09:39Z at 131,679 bytes, then confirmed unchanged on a second read of all five product ids at 03:14:12Z at 210,620 bytes. Identical both times, five minutes apart.

The three writes landed in a staged sequence: the paid upgrade pack first, then the pre-order bonus pack, then the base game. The availability records hanging off the base game component carry their own LastModifiedDate of 2026-10-23T00:59:00.3954123Z, which sits between the second and third writes. The two storefront parents were last touched on 16 October and did not move at all.
The 2 hour 15 minute 5 second span is arithmetic from the first and last of those three timestamps.
How the five records hang together
All five share ProductGroupId 8f650646-a94d-4565-83ff-527e37c867b7. The two storefront products are bundles over the three components.

So what was rewritten is the layer a buyer never sees directly, the entitlement and package plumbing the two store pages resolve through, while the store pages themselves sat still.

What this desk is deliberately not telling you
Two things, and both are refusals rather than gaps in the reporting.
What changed inside those records is unknown and no guess is offered. The previous cycle's notes recorded only the two storefront parent ids, so there is no prior snapshot of the three component records to diff against. A LastModifiedDate in this catalogue can bump on a re-ingestion that changes nothing a shopper would ever see. The researcher who found this rates the timestamps HIGH and the question of what moved LOW, in those words, and this desk is publishing to that line: that it changed, and when, and nothing else.
No download size and no install size appears in this article. The package row on the base game component is a placeholder and is easy to misread as a real figure. Its install size field reads 0. Its version string reads "0". Its package URI and both of its download URIs point at productingestionbin1.blob.core.windows.net, which is Microsoft's product ingestion staging blob. And ValidationData.PassedValidation reads false on all five Grand Theft Auto VI products. Any byte figure taken from that row would be a staging artefact, so this article prints none.
What the package row does supply is stable identifiers a future cycle can diff against: PackageFormat XVC, architecture x64, PlatformDependencies listing Windows.Xbox only with no Windows desktop dependency, FulfillmentData.PackageFamilyName RockstarGamesInc.28872443D20A7_k2ss7vbb13xte, and an XboxTitleId of 2035456122. The platform dependency line is the interesting one, and it is covered on its own terms in this cycle's ratings and platforms piece.
Text Rockstar re-published inside the window
The base game component's own description field was read in the same fetch. It opens with the pre-order terms, verbatim: purchase prior to 19 November 2026 23:59:59 to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+, with the subscription month to be redeemed within 180 days of placing the pre-order, unavailable to child accounts with restrictions on age restricted content, and limited to one redemption per Platform Account. Then it states flatly: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience."
Note the two different pre-order cutoffs inside Rockstar's own records. The marketing copy says 19 November 2026 at 23:59:59, while the Microsoft availability windows on both priced storefront products expire at 2026-11-19T04:59:59Z. Those are about nineteen hours apart.
That text sits inside the record that was rewritten at 2026-10-23T01:08:53Z, so it is text Rockstar re-published inside the window. It is not evidence of changed text, because there is no prior snapshot to compare it against.
Why it matters that everything else stood still
Rockstar's own Grand Theft Auto VI page was byte identical on two reads this cycle at 1,205,772 bytes with MD5 8e42d9b809317caf0ebcb11048ff388a, matching the 16, 20 and 22 October readings. The Newswire's newest post is still the 15 October Launch Trailer announcement in all seven locales checked. Every one of 576 static asset URLs under the site returned a single Last-Modified value of 15 October. Against that, a staged three record rewrite in the small hours of 23 October is the only movement in the window.
Limits
This establishes that three catalogue records were rewritten and when, and nothing about what they now say that they did not say before. No prior snapshot of 9NL3WWNZLZZN, 9PLVSSH8849X or 9PN4LLBR8RCH exists on this desk. Anybody extending this piece must keep that line.
No download size, install size or patch size is stated, implied or hinted at. The package row is a staging placeholder for the four reasons listed above.
A catalogue timestamp is not a release decision. Re-ingestion runs happen for reasons that include metadata hygiene, localisation passes and internal plumbing. Nothing here evidences a build, a gold master, a review copy or a change of plan.
The five product id set is strong but not exhaustive. It comes from the bundle graph plus the Xbox storefront page markup, because Microsoft's catalogue free-text search route returned HTTP 404 and its autosuggest route returned HTTP 400. A sixth product with no inbound link would not surface through that method.
Retrieval method, disclosed. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name. Every fetch above used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL rather than crawling. For the rest of this cycle see the news index.
