PEGI Has No GTA 6 Rating 27 Days Out While the ESRB and USK Do
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news8 min read
IS GTA 6 RATED YET? IT DEPENDS ENTIRELY ON WHERE YOU LIVE. PEGI'S OWN SEARCH FOR THE EXACT TITLE RETURNED HTTP 200 AND 224,593 BYTES AT 2026-10-23T03:07:32Z and the body reads verbatim "Search results. Found 0 results from your query. No results found." A CONTROL WAS RUN BECAUSE A ZERO RESULT IS ONLY WORTH PRINTING IF THE DATABASE IS ALIVE: the broad search returned HTTP 200 and 280,769 bytes at 03:05:00Z populated with GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, the Trilogy, the Definitive Editions, Liberty City Stories and THREE separate GTA V entries, while page 2 at 262,916 bytes contains ZERO occurrences of the string. Pages 3 and 4 returned HTTP 403 at 7 bytes and were not read, so the exact title query is the load bearing evidence. THE ESRB IS FULLY PUBLISHED: certificate 41627 at HTTP 200 and 62,486 bytes at 03:06:41Z, publisher Rockstar Games, platforms PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, rating M FOR MATURE 17+, descriptors BLOOD AND GORE, INTENSE VIOLENCE, MATURE HUMOR, NUDITY, STRONG LANGUAGE, STRONG SEXUAL CONTENT, USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL, plus the interactive element IN-GAME PURCHASES, eight lines in all. ROCKSTAR PUBLISHES THAT SAME LIST ITSELF, CHARACTER FOR CHARACTER, on its own page at HTTP 200 and 1,205,772 bytes at 03:19:30Z, which serves the ESRB mature image across 19 references, carries "Coming November 19, 2026" five times, "PlayStation 5" fourteen times and "Xbox Series" five times, and carries NO PEGI MARK AND NO USK MARK. GERMANY RATED IT TWICE, A MONTH APART, read at HTTP 200 and 288,382 bytes at 03:07:39Z under the header "38 Titel und 0 Webpages gefunden": XBOX SERIES USK Nr 59552/26 WITH PRUFDATUM 13.09.2026 and PLAYSTATION 5 USK Nr 59715/26 WITH PRUFDATUM 13.10.2026, both "keine Jugendfreigabe gemass paragraph 14 JuSchG" which is USK 18, both carrying Drastische Gewalt, Drogen and Kriminelle Rollenbilder plus In-Game-Kaufe, publisher Take-Two Interactive GmbH, genre Genremix. BOTH EXAMINATION DATES PRE-DATE THE WINDOW AND THE CARDS CARRY NO PUBLICATION TIMESTAMP, so the two certificate structure is the fresh detail rather than a new event. THE NEGATIVE THAT TIES IT TOGETHER IS NO WINDOWS PC ENTRY ON FIVE INDEPENDENT SURFACES: the USK search returned 38 titles with Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 only; ESRB certificate 41627 lists the same two; Rockstar's own page carries six outbound store links and ZERO STEAM OR EPIC LINKS OF ANY KIND; Steam's store search returns total 0 for "GTA VI" and total 1 for "grand theft auto vi", the single hit being Vice City The Definitive Edition at appid 1546990 and $59.99; and the Xbox base package lists PlatformDependencies Windows.Xbox only while all three PlayStation records list PS5 only. NONE OF THAT IS NEW AND IT IS NOT PRESENTED AS A CHANGE. WHAT CANNOT BE SAID: NO ESRB RATING DATE, because the Recently Rated feed is hard capped at 10, ignores its own timeFrame parameter across past week, past month and past three months, and carries certificate 41455 while excluding the higher 41627; NOTHING about a PEGI listing having existed and been pulled, which is secondary and unverified; NO AUSTRALIAN RATING, because classification.gov.au failed across six attempts on five distinct URLs with dropped connections and an independent HTTP 503, WHICH MEANS THE R18+ RECORD SECONDARY OUTLETS CITE CANNOT CURRENTLY BE CHECKED BY ANYONE; and no Korean, Brazilian, Japanese, Singaporean, Russian or Saudi rating. NEW ZEALAND HAS AN ENTRY AND IT IS NOT THE GAME: "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look", 27 August 2026, is a classification of gameplay footage. LIMITS: a zero result establishes the absence of a public record and nothing about whether a submission exists; no European locale version of Rockstar's page was obtained, both /en_gb/VI and /de_de/VI returning HTTP 404 at 2,447 bytes; Steam's full catalogue was not swept because both GetAppList routes returned HTTP 404. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and every fetch used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL rather than crawling.
Is Grand Theft Auto VI rated yet? It depends entirely on where you live. With 27 days to launch, Europe's PEGI database returns the words "Found 0 results from your query" for the exact title, while the United States ESRB carries a complete published certificate and Germany's USK carries two separate certificates a month apart. And across five independent surfaces, there is no Windows PC entry anywhere.
PEGI, read directly, at zero
PEGI's own search at pegi.info/search-pegi?q=Grand+Theft+Auto+VI&op=Search returned HTTP 200 and 224,593 bytes on 2026-10-23T03:07:32Z, and the results body reads, verbatim: "Search results. Found 0 results from your query. No results found. The title of the game you were searching for cannot be found in this database. This may mean it was not classified by PEGI, but it may also mean it was published on a platform that is not included in this database."
A zero result is only worth printing if the database is demonstrably alive, so a control was run. The broad search for "grand theft auto" returned HTTP 200 at 280,769 bytes at 2026-10-23T03:05:00Z and comes back populated with Rockstar titles: Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas, the Trilogy and the Definitive Editions, Liberty City Stories, and three separate Grand Theft Auto V entries. Page 2 of that broad search, HTTP 200 at 262,916 bytes, contains zero occurrences of the string "Grand Theft Auto VI". Pages 3 and 4 returned HTTP 403 at 7 bytes each and were not read, which is why the exact title query is the load bearing evidence here rather than the pagination.
The ESRB, by contrast, is fully published
esrb.org/ratings/41627/grand-theft-auto-vi/, HTTP 200 and 62,486 bytes, read 2026-10-23T03:06:41Z. Certificate id 41627, publisher Rockstar Games, platforms listed as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Seven content descriptors plus one interactive element, eight lines in all. Rockstar publishes that same list itself. Its Grand Theft Auto VI page, HTTP 200 at 1,205,772 bytes read 2026-10-23T03:19:30Z, serves the ESRB mature rating image across 19 references alongside the literal string "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol. In-Game Purchases." That is character for character the board's own descriptor and interactive element list. The same page carries "Coming November 19, 2026" five times, "PlayStation 5" fourteen times and "Xbox Series" five times, and carries no PEGI mark and no USK mark.
Germany rated it twice, a month apart
usk.de/?s=Grand+Theft+Auto+VI, HTTP 200 and 288,382 bytes, read 2026-10-23T03:07:39Z. The page header reads "38 Titel und 0 Webpages gefunden" and carries two distinct certificates.

"Keine Jugendfreigabe gemass paragraph 14 JuSchG" is the USK's top tier, the adults only mark usually written as USK 18. The board's own explanatory text on each card glosses the three descriptors: drastic violence, where violence is clearly visualised or exaggeratedly focused; drugs, where drug use is shown positively or frequently; and criminal role models, where criminal acts are shown uncritically or trivialised, including robberies and illegal street races presented as adventure.
Both examination dates are old. 13 September and 13 October 2026 both pre-date this cycle's window, and the USK card carries no publication timestamp, so there is no way to say when the records reached the public database. The two certificate structure and the one month gap between platforms are the fresh detail here, not a new event.

Five surfaces, no Windows PC entry on any of them
The negative that ties the ratings beat to the platform question is the strongest single thing in this piece, because two researchers reached it independently from opposite directions and nothing contradicts it.

None of that is new, and this piece does not present it as a change. It is a verified negative that can now be stated with precision and with instants attached, which is a different and more useful thing than an impression.
What cannot be said, and why
The gaps on this beat are as load bearing as the findings, so they are listed rather than smoothed over.
No ESRB rating date. The board's "Recently Rated Games" feed is hard capped at 10 results and ignores its own timeFrame parameter: the past week, past month and past three month queries all returned exactly 10 links, Grand Theft Auto VI absent from all three. Certificate ids are not chronological either, since the feed carries 41455 while excluding the higher 41627. The detail page has no date field. Nobody using these routes can date this rating, so no date is published.
Nothing about a PEGI listing having existed and been removed. Secondary outlets carry that claim and this desk did not verify it. No archived capture of a PEGI node was obtained. The only publishable PEGI fact is the live zero result above.
No Australian rating. classification.gov.au was unreachable across six attempts on five distinct URLs, producing HTTP/2 stream errors, empty replies on HTTP/1.1 and an independent HTTP 503 through a different fetcher, which means the R18+ record secondary outlets cite cannot currently be checked by anyone. That is worth one sentence and not one more.
No Korean, Brazilian, Japanese, Singaporean, Russian or Saudi rating. Korea's GRAC reset the connection twice. Brazil's Ministry of Justice classification path returned HTTP 404 at 26 bytes. One CERO page and one IMDA homepage were fetched and neither was analysed. Russia and Saudi Arabia were not attempted.
New Zealand has an entry, and it is not the game. The Classification Office carries "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look", dated 27 August 2026, classified for offensive language and violence, and described in the office's own words as an extended look and showcase of gameplay footage. That is a classification of a video, not of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Limits
A zero result is a zero result and nothing more. PEGI's own page says a title's absence may mean it was not classified by PEGI, or that it was published on a platform the database does not cover. This article reports the absence of a public record, and establishes nothing about whether a submission exists, is in progress, or has been made and not yet published.
The USK records are old and no publication date is claimable. Both examination dates pre-date the research window and the cards carry no publication field.
No European locale version of Rockstar's page was obtained. The paths /en_gb/VI and /de_de/VI both returned HTTP 404 at 2,447 bytes on 2026-10-23T03:20:13Z, so what rating mark Rockstar shows a European visitor is unknown.
The five surface PC negative is an absence of records, not a statement from Rockstar. Nobody at Rockstar, Take-Two, the ESRB, PEGI or the USK was contacted, and no board was asked whether a Windows submission exists.
Steam's full catalogue was not swept. Both GetAppList routes returned HTTP 404 at 136 bytes, so the Steam conclusion rests on four store search queries, all of which did return HTTP 200 with usable JSON.
Retrieval method, disclosed. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name. Every fetch above used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL rather than crawling.
