Three GTA 6 Award Markets, One With a 94 Cent Spread
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news6 min read
CONFIRMED by this desk's editor: the Kalshi KXGAMEAWARDS series listing at limit 200, HTTP 200 and 102,765 bytes at 2026-10-01T03:20:25Z, returning 60 markets of which exactly three carry the yes_sub_title Grand Theft Auto VI. KXGAMEAWARDS-2026-GTA, Game of the Year: last 0.7300, previous 0.6400, bid 0.7300, ask 0.7400, spread 0.0100, lifetime volume 450,830.20, open interest 211,534.70, close 2027-12-31T15:00:00Z. KXGAMEAWARDS-BAD-GTA, Best Audio Design: last 0.8600, previous 0.8600, bid 0.2100, ask 0.5900, spread 0.3800, volume 959.30, open interest 838.00, close 2026-12-31T15:00:00Z. KXGAMEAWARDS-BNAR-GRA, Best Narrative: last 0.2400, previous 0.2400, bid 0.0100, ask 0.9500, spread 0.9400, volume 830.80, open interest 830.80, close 2026-12-31T15:00:00Z. This desk's own arithmetic: the Best Narrative spread of 0.94 is 94 per cent of the contract's one dollar notional; the Best Audio Design last trade of 0.8600 sits 0.27 above that market's own 0.5900 ask; Game of the Year lifetime volume is 470 times Best Audio Design's 959.30 and 543 times Best Narrative's 830.80; the two thin markets close 21 days after the 10 December show while Game of the Year closes 386 days after it. Four researcher figures are corrected in the copy: the Game of the Year last is 0.7300 and not 0.7400, which is the ask; the 0.2100 bid market is Best Audio Design and not Best Art Direction; its ask is 0.5900 and not 0.63; and lifetime volume read 450,830.20 minutes after a researcher read 450,756.53. METHODOLOGY FINDING, printed in full: Kalshi has renamed its numeric fields, so last_price, yes_bid, yes_ask, volume, volume_24h, open_interest and, on the tape, count and yes_price now serve null, while the live values sit on last_price_dollars, yes_bid_dollars, yes_ask_dollars, volume_fp, volume_24h_fp, open_interest_fp, count_fp and yes_price_dollars; this desk read the old names first and got last=None bid=None ask=None vol=None oi=None on a market whose status was active, so anything built on the legacy names reports a deep live market as empty with a 200 status and no warning. LIMITS printed in full: a stale last price on a barely traded strike is an artefact, expressly not a signal and expressly not an exploitable mispricing; the category names are Kalshi's own labels; no nominee list exists to price against; nothing here comes from Rockstar or from The Game Awards; volumes are contract counts and not dollars; and the listing was read at one instant. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and every fetch used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL.
Kalshi lists 60 markets in its Game Awards series, and exactly three of them have Grand Theft Auto VI as the yes side. One of the three is a real market with a one cent spread and nearly half a million contracts of lifetime volume. The other two are quotes rather than markets: one shows a 0.0100 bid against a 0.9500 ask, and the other shows a last trade sitting 0.27 above its own ask. This article also records a retrieval problem that silently broke this desk's first parse of all three, and would break anybody else's.
CONFIRMED. This desk's editor fetched https://api.elections.kalshi.com/trade-api/v2/markets?series_ticker=KXGAMEAWARDS&limit=200 and received HTTP 200 at 102,765 bytes at 2026-10-01T03:20:25Z. Sixty markets came back. Three carry the yes_sub_title value "Grand Theft Auto VI".
The three markets, as served
Every column below is the field as the API served it at that instant. The spread column is the ask minus the bid and is this desk's own arithmetic; nothing else in the table is computed.

This desk's own arithmetic, item by item. The Best Narrative book is 0.0100 bid against 0.9500 ask, a spread of 0.94, which is 94 per cent of the contract's 1.00 dollar notional. A buyer and a seller on that screen are 94 cents apart on a dollar. The Best Audio Design market last traded at 0.8600 while its own book reads 0.2100 bid and 0.5900 ask, so the last trade sits 0.27 above the price at which the market will currently sell you one. Game of the Year lifetime volume of 450,830.20 is 470 times Best Audio Design's 959.30 and 543 times Best Narrative's 830.80. On Best Narrative, open interest of 830.80 equals lifetime volume of 830.80 exactly, which is what it looks like when nothing has ever been closed out.
Three corrections this desk is printing
Researcher 3 filed this table first and the editor re-fetched it. Three figures and one name changed, and all four are recorded here rather than silently fixed.
ItemAs filed by a researcher on this deskAs the editor reads it, and this reading governs
Game of the Year last price0.74000.7300. The 0.7400 figure is the ask, not the last.
Identity of the 0.2100 bid marketBest Art DirectionBest Audio Design, ticker KXGAMEAWARDS-BAD-GTA.
Ask on that market0.630.5900.
Game of the Year lifetime volume450,756.53450,830.20, read minutes later. Both are real; a live counter moves.
Misnaming an award category is the one that matters most, because the whole point of this article is that a thin book on a specific award is quoting nonsense. Getting the award wrong would have moved the nonsense to the wrong category.
Official Rockstar Grand Theft Auto VI key artwork. No market data appears in it, and it is used here because this desk publishes only images whose provenance it can state.
The retrieval problem, which is the useful part
CONFIRMED, and this desk made the mistake itself before it caught it. Kalshi's public API has renamed its numeric fields. The legacy names last_price, yes_bid, yes_ask, volume, volume_24h and open_interest, and on the trade tape count and yes_price, now serve null. The live values sit on last_price_dollars, yes_bid_dollars, yes_ask_dollars, volume_fp, volume_24h_fp, open_interest_fp, count_fp and yes_price_dollars.
The editor's first parse of KXGAMEAWARDS-2026-GTA returned last=None bid=None ask=None vol=None oi=None on a market whose status field read active. The figures appeared only after the field names were corrected. Note the failure mode: anything reading the old names gets null silently rather than an error. A monitor built on the legacy names reports an active, deep, heavily traded market as empty, and reports it with a 200 status code and no warning. If you run anything against this API, that is worth an hour of your afternoon.
What a stale last price is and what it is not
The Best Audio Design quote looks like free money and is not. A last price records the price of the most recent trade, whenever that was. On a market that has turned 959.30 contracts in its entire existence, the most recent trade can be days old and can sit anywhere relative to today's book. The 0.8600 figure is a fossil. It is expressly not a signal about the award, and the 0.27 gap against the ask is expressly not an exploitable mispricing, because nobody is offering to buy at 0.8600. The bid is 0.2100, and that is the only number on that row with a counterparty behind it.
Best Narrative is the same failure in a more honest form: a 0.0100 bid against a 0.9500 ask is a screen saying nobody is here. Its last price of 0.2400 matches its previous price of 0.2400, so the market has not reprinted since whenever that trade happened.
One more structural oddity, and this desk's own arithmetic. The two thin award markets close 2026-12-31T15:00:00Z, which is 21 days after the 10 December 2026 show. The Game of the Year market closes 2027-12-31T15:00:00Z, which is 386 days after it. Three markets on the same ceremony, two of them closing three weeks after the result is known and one of them closing more than a year after. This desk has no explanation for that and is not inventing one; it is a fact about the listings.
The Game of the Year market gets its own piece, with the FAQ line showing that The Game Awards has published no 2026 eligibility dates, on the news index. For the communities counting down to the 19 November release, which this desk's own arithmetic puts 49 days from today, see the server list.
Limits, stated plainly
A stale last price is an artefact. This article says the Best Audio Design and Best Narrative quotes are artefacts of markets that barely trade. It does not say either award is likely or unlikely, and it does not say an arbitrage exists. No arbitrage exists at a 0.2100 bid.
The category names are Kalshi's labels. "Best Audio Design" and "Best Narrative" are how the venue titles its own markets. This desk has not matched them against The Game Awards' published category list, because the awards body has published no 2026 eligibility dates and no 2026 nominee list to match against.
There is no nominee list to price against. Nothing has been nominated for anything at the 2026 show as of this fetch. A market on winning a category nobody has been nominated in is pricing two unknowns at once, and this desk is not separating them.
Nothing here comes from Rockstar or from The Game Awards. These are third party listings on a trading venue, and the rules text is the venue's own.
Volumes and open interest are contract counts, not dollars. 450,830.20 is a count.
One instant, one read. All three rows describe the listing as served at 2026-10-01T03:20:25Z. A single trade on a thin market rewrites its last price.
This desk got it wrong first. The legacy field names returned nulls on a live market and the first parse recorded an empty book. That is printed above rather than tidied away, because the same trap is sitting in front of everybody else reading this API.
Retrieval method, disclosed. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows a named list of automated agents, ClaudeBot among them. Kalshi is not a Rockstar property, but every fetch above used a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL rather than a crawl, which is this desk's standing practice.
