GTA 6 Website Update: What Rockstar's Site Actually Contains

by 6Charts Team Category: news 13 min read

Dataminers reported backend edits to the GTA 6 website on July 29. We pulled the live page on July 30 and read it line by line. Three circulating errors get corrected, the trailers data gets checked for a third slot, and every published detail on the site is collated in one place.

Rockstar edited the back end of the Grand Theft Auto 6 website on July 29, 2026, according to the people who watch it for a living. We did not keep a snapshot of the page from July 28, so we cannot diff it and we are not going to pretend we can. What we could do was fetch the live page ourselves on July 30, 2026 and read every line of it. That retrieval of https://www.rockstargames.com/VI returned HTTP 200 and 901,565 bytes, and it settles three things that are being reported incorrectly this week. What was reported, and by whom The monitoring credit belongs to X user @iGrandTheftAuto, who reported three minor updates to the website on July 29, 2026. That is the account Kotaku cites in Zack Zwiezen's write-up of July 29, 2026, which quotes the line "There's now been 3 minor updates to the website today" and gives no specifics about what actually changed. Kotaku also notes that the same account spotted similar backend activity shortly before June's cover art announcement, which is a point worth holding alongside our own analysis below. @videotech posted the same day, at 15:00:31 UTC by our decoding of the post identifier: "Rockstar made two backend updates today to GTAVI website, I'm not currently home to check however @iGrandTheftAuto found some changes to preloading GTADeco fonts (the GTAVI exclusive fonts) and other miscellaneous changes. Nothing notable but they haven't actually touched the site since late last month". @gtasix_ posted about it at 15:25:59 UTC. A Threads post by @msstudiodotcom read: "Rockstar Games has updated the GTA 6 website backend. No new public content has been discovered, but dataminers spotted new GTADeco fonts and several minor backend changes." Note the honesty in @videotech's own wording. Two updates in one post, three in @iGrandTheftAuto's count, and "nothing notable" from the person reporting it. The edit count is reported, not confirmed by us. Correction one, the font family is GTAArtDeco Five fonts are preloaded on the page as rel="preload" as="font" type="font/woff" resources under /VI/_next/static/media/. Their names, as served on July 30, 2026, are GTAArtDeco_Bold, GTAArtDeco_CondensedBold, GTAArtDeco_CondensedHeavy, GTAArtDeco_Medium and GTAArtDeco_Regular. The family is GTAArtDeco. "GTADeco" is a typo that entered circulation through one post and has been copied outward since, which is a small thing that tells you how much of this week's coverage is first-hand. One further technical detail, since it matters below. The page serves zero @font-face blocks. The fonts arrive through Next.js CSS modules with hashed class names such as decobold_67598de8-module__goMq7q__variable. Why a font preload change is not trailer evidence This is the honest core of the story, so it is worth slowing down for. rel="preload" is a resource hint, and Next.js emits font preloads automatically on every build. The filenames carry content hashes, so any rebuild of the site, for any reason at all, produces new hashed font URLs even when the font files are byte-identical to the previous ones. A dataminer diffing the HTML sees new font paths. Nothing about the design or the marketing plan has necessarily changed. So when you read that Rockstar added new fonts, the accurate version is that the built output references font assets at new hashed paths. That is compatible with a trailer being prepared, and equally compatible with a dependency bump, a content tweak elsewhere on the page, or a routine redeploy. Treating a hash change as a countdown signal is reading tea leaves, and we would rather say so than dress it up. Correction two, the pre-order banner story is from July 10 and 11 A claim doing the rounds this week says Rockstar removed the GTA 6 pre-order banner on July 29. The date is wrong. The removal was reported on July 10 and 11, 2026, by @GTAVI_Countdown at 22:57:17 UTC on July 10 and @gtasix_ at 06:46:00 UTC on July 11, both by our decoding of their post identifiers. Both described it as the site's "Pre-Order Now" banner, and @gtasix_ read it as the first phase of the summer marketing campaign ending. Three weeks later it is being recirculated as fresh news. A separate and earlier removal gets folded into the same story, so it is worth untangling. The Russian outlet gamegpu reported on June 19, 2026, in a piece credited to Maxim Boldson, that "the developers have removed the text bar with the word 'New' next to the game's second official trailer", noting that the marker "had been present on the page since the video's release". That is a badge in the trailers section of the website, on a different date, and the two events should not be merged. The English version of that headline renders the item as a "new product banner", which is a machine translation of the Russian for the "New" badge and has been read literally elsewhere. About the site itself we can be flat. The "Pre-Order Now" call to action was present on rockstargames.com/VI when we retrieved it on July 30, 2026. Anyone claiming Rockstar has pulled pre-orders is describing something that is not on the page. Correction three, Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi are not radio stations The strings Hi-Fi, Lo-Fi and Motion do appear in the page. They have been passed around as evidence of GTA 6 radio stations. They are not. All three sit inside the site's accessibility panel, and none of them has anything to do with audio. "Motion" is the heading of that panel. Under it the page carries the label "Accessibility configuration" and the line "Use the accessibility options to define if you want to minimize animations, motion effects, and visual movement, adjusting system performance." Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi are the two settings offered beneath that heading, and they govern how much the site itself animates. Rockstar's own descriptions are "Enables full-motion experience with rich animations, dynamic transitions, and immersive visual effects." for Hi-Fi and "Minimizes animations, motion effects, and visual movement for improved performance." for Lo-Fi. Rockstar has named no GTA 6 radio stations anywhere on the site. The trailers section contains exactly two entries Since Trailer 3 speculation is the reason anyone is looking at this page, here is what the trailers data actually holds as of July 30, 2026. trailer-1, video id rkoCtr1r, dated December 4, 2023 on the site, runtime 1:31. trailer-2, video ids {"ps5":"cpys7u2s","all":"cpys7u21"}, dated May 6, 2025, runtime 2:47. There is no third slot, no placeholder entry, no empty object and no unlisted video identifier. If Rockstar has staged anything for a third trailer, it is not in the public page source. The two Trailer 3 predictions, both self-labelled as predictions Two named figures have put timings on a third trailer, and both were careful about what they were doing. Tom Henderson, on the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, predicted Trailer 3 on or before August 6, 2026, the day before Take-Two's earnings call. GTA BOOM covered it on July 26, 2026 in a piece by Ray Ampoloquio, updated July 27 by Matt Gibbs, stressing that it is "a prediction", "not a leak", and that Henderson is "not claiming someone from Rockstar told him about it". TheGamer's George Foster placed the remark roughly 2,728 seconds into the live episode on July 25, 2026. NateTheHate2 posted on X at 03:35:09 UTC on July 29, 2026 by our decoding: "I expect to see a fair bit of GTA6 next month." He separately answered a delay question with "No. GTA6 will arrive in November as planned." Gamingbolt's Ravi Sinha covered both the same day. Worth weighing: his strongest track record is on Nintendo, a different beat from Rockstar. Neither becomes a schedule. Rockstar and Take-Two have announced nothing for any August date. Take-Two's confirmed August commitment is its Q1 FY2027 results, out before market open on Friday, August 7, 2026 with a call at 8:00 a.m. Eastern, and an earnings call is not a trailer. What the site does contain, collated The more useful outcome of reading the whole page is that a lot of verified detail has never been assembled in one place. None of it is a fresh discovery. Most went live with the pre-order pages in late June 2026. Sections: Trailers, Media & Artwork, Screenshots, Artwork, Downloads, People & Places, Only In Leonida, Choose Your Edition, Edition Comparison. We counted 153 distinct media assets, including shard0 through shard9, poster_full, poster_logo, onlyInLeonidaDesktop, mediaDesktop, trailerDesktop and their Mobile variants, GTA_PLUS_DESKTOP and MOBILE, a PBOPS5_badge_h_en_GB badge and an esrb asset. Places: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Mount Kalaga, Grassrivers, Ambrosia, plus Stockyard, Lake Leonida, Gambit Bay, Washington Beach, Shore Drive and Southside Vice City in body copy. People: Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos, Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Dre'Quan Priest, Raul Bautista, Real Dimez. Five Ultimate Edition businesses, each carrying the phrase "Only open for business with the Ultimate Edition": Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop, Rideout Customs Mod Shop, Sara's Unisex Salon and Stock 305 Clothing Store. A sixth Ultimate Edition location, the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store, is presented differently: the site labels it a gang compound and does not attach the "only open for business" line to it. Vehicles: a '55 Vapid Stanier, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a '95 Grotti Cheetah "available to punctuate later-stage action", a Ganado Retro Build mod kit for Jason's "well-worn Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup" which the site categorises as a modkit rather than a vehicle, a Shitzu Squalo "docked at Washington Beach" and "Perfect for casting in Gambit Bay", a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest Kayak. Two new gun brands: "Personalized sidearms with detailed engravings for Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol." Chapters: "Ultimate Edition bonuses are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter." That is the strongest confirmation on the site that the story is divided into chapters. Odds and ends: "the Goodtime State's hit TV show character, Macca the Gator", an "eccentric collector and local fixer, Wyman", and a hook to "Raid the compound of one of Southside Vice City's loudest and most socially active gangs and escape safely to score some special items and distinct contraband." Vice City callbacks: a weapon pattern "inspired by Tommy Vercetti's iconic palm tree button-up", and revolvers "sourced from the Vercetti Estate." The tattoo parlour copy runs as follows, with Rockstar's dash replaced by a comma to suit our style: "Stockyard's most iconic ink bar, with over 50 signature tattoos for both Jason and Lucia, all designed by the artist collective FAILE. Only open for business with the Ultimate Edition." The GTA Wiki account @GTAWikiOfficial posted on June 26, 2026 at 19:18:32 UTC by our decoding that "FAILE are a real-world Brooklyn-based artist collective appearing in GTA 6. They will run the Electric Fang Tattoo parlor in Stockyard. They are notable for wearing white ski masks to conceal their identities." A localisation observation, and what it does not mean The Ultimate Edition box art is localised for exactly six locales in the asset set: en_us, fr_fr, ja_jp, ko_kr, zh_hans and zh_tw. No German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Russian variants exist as assets, and Standard Edition art is not localised at all. That is an observation about marketing assets and nothing more. The Xbox store listing states 13 supported languages, so the gaps say nothing about in-game language support. Confirmed, reported and unconfirmed Confirmed (our own retrieval of rockstargames.com/VI on July 30, 2026, HTTP 200, 901,565 bytes): Five GTAArtDeco fonts preloaded under /VI/_next/static/media/, with zero @font-face blocks served. Exactly two trailer entries, trailer-1 dated December 4, 2023 at 1:31 and trailer-2 dated May 6, 2025 at 2:47, with no third slot or placeholder. The "Pre-Order Now" call to action still present. 153 distinct media assets. The sections, places, people, five Ultimate Edition businesses carrying the "only open for business" line, vehicles, gun brands and Vercetti callbacks listed above, in Rockstar's own words. Ultimate Edition box art localised for six locales only. Confirmed correction: The font family is GTAArtDeco. "GTADeco" is a typo in circulation. Confirmed correction: Hi-Fi, Lo-Fi and Motion are video player and accessibility settings, sitting beside "Minimizes animations, motion effects, and visual movement". They are not radio stations. Confirmed correction: The pre-order banner removal was reported on July 10 and 11, 2026, by @GTAVI_Countdown and @gtasix_, both of whom described it as the site's "Pre-Order Now" banner. It is not July 29 news. Separately, gamegpu reported on June 19, 2026 that the "New" text bar beside the second trailer had been removed, which is a different element on a different date. A "Pre-Order Now" call to action was present on the page when we retrieved it on July 30, 2026. Confirmed correction: Motion is the heading of the site's accessibility panel, and Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi are the two animation settings beneath it, described by Rockstar as "Enables full-motion experience with rich animations, dynamic transitions, and immersive visual effects." and "Minimizes animations, motion effects, and visual movement for improved performance." They govern visual motion rather than audio, and they are not radio stations. Reported, not confirmed by us: That Rockstar made two or three backend edits on July 29, 2026. @iGrandTheftAuto reported three, @videotech reported two, and Kotaku's July 29 write-up quotes the count without specifying what changed. We hold no July 28 snapshot, so we cannot diff the page or verify the count. Reported (@GTAWikiOfficial, June 26, 2026): That FAILE is a real Brooklyn artist collective, known for white ski masks, running the Electric Fang parlour in Stockyard. Predictions, explicitly not leaks: Tom Henderson on Insider Gaming Weekly predicted Trailer 3 on or before August 6, 2026, with GTA BOOM stressing on July 26 and 27, 2026 that it is a prediction and not a leak. NateTheHate2 posted on July 29, 2026 that he expects "a fair bit of GTA6 next month", and on July 28, 2026 that the game "will arrive in November as planned", both covered by Gamingbolt on July 29. Our analysis, labelled as such: A change in preloaded font paths is a Next.js build artefact, because hashed filenames change on any rebuild even when the font bytes do not. It is not evidence of a trailer. Likewise, six localised box art variants is a marketing-asset observation, and the Xbox listing's 13 supported languages is the figure that speaks to language support. Not confirmed: Any Trailer 3 date. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced anything for any August date. Also unconfirmed: what the July 29 edits actually changed, whether the Ultimate Edition locations listed on the site are the complete set, and any GTA 6 radio station. The site is a better source than the commentary about the site, and it is free to read. GTA 6 arrives November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with boxed copies shipping November 12 and preloading opening at local midnight the same day. We will keep auditing the page directly on our news hub, and you can see which communities are already organising for launch on our servers list.
