The GTA 6 Limited Vinyl Is Gone in Britain. Not in America

by 6Charts Team Category: news 8 min read

A regional split that two researchers reported in opposite directions until the editor settled it personally with three fetches at 2026-09-21T03:27:38Z and 03:27:39Z, all HTTP 200. The Limited-Edition Vinyl is variant id 71303757070589 on all three storefronts, so this is one product presenting three availabilities by region rather than three products. The trap is carried in full and it is the reason the coverage keeps going wrong: the literal string Sold out sits in the page source of the IN STOCK United States page too, because it is a Shopify theme label that ships in the document regardless of stock, so grepping for the phrase returns a false positive on every storefront. Only the available boolean and the schema.org availability field distinguish them. Our 18 September knockdown of a sold out story still stands for 18 September and for the storefront it was read from, and the Internet Archive capture of the American page at 2026-09-20T11:15:52Z independently reads InStock at 124.98. Also confirmed and not previously reported: all nine product and region combinations render a ship date of 20 November 2026, the day after the game arrives.

On 18 September this desk published a piece saying the Grand Theft Auto VI limited edition vinyl had not sold out, because the shop's own machine readable feed said it was purchasable. That piece was right on 18 September and it is still right about 18 September. Three days later the same record, the same variant id, is unavailable in Britain and unavailable in the European Union, and remains on sale in the United States. Both things are true, they are true at the same time, and anyone who reads one without the other will get this story wrong in one direction or the other. Is the GTA 6 limited edition vinyl sold out? CONFIRMED, and settled by this desk's editor personally after two researchers returned contradictory reports. Three fetches of collections/all/products.json on www.gtavi-thealbum.com, all HTTP 200, with a desktop user agent, at 2026-09-21T03:27:38Z for the United States storefront and 03:27:39Z for the en-gb and en-eu storefronts: ProductVariant idUSen-gben-eu CD71314962546941available true, 19.98available true, 10.99available true, 16.99 Limited-Edition Vinyl71303757070589available true, 124.98available false, 108.99available false, 123.99 Vinyl71303754547453available true, 49.98available true, 44.99available true, 51.99 Currencies were confirmed independently from cart.js on each storefront by a researcher: USD, GBP and EUR respectively. The variant id is the load bearing detail here. It is 71303757070589 on all three storefronts. This is not three products with different stock levels. It is one product record presenting three different availabilities by region. The CD and the standard vinyl are available in all three. The same claim turns up in machine readable form on the product pages themselves. CONFIRMED by a researcher: the United States limited edition page carries JSON-LD reading "availability":"http://schema.org/InStock" with "price":"124.98" and "priceCurrency":"USD", while the en-gb page at the same second carries "availability":"http://schema.org/OutOfStock" with "price":"108.99" and "priceCurrency":"GBP". The European page reads OutOfStock as well. The standard vinyl reads InStock on all three. Why does the page say Sold out even when the record is in stock? CONFIRMED, and this is the trap that has been producing false stories about this product since the day it went on sale. The literal string Sold out appears in the page source of the in stock United States page as well as the out of stock British one. It is a Shopify theme label. It ships in the document on every product page regardless of stock, sitting next to labels like Sale, and is hidden by stylesheet unless the condition that triggers it is met. What that means in practice is simple and it is worth stating flatly, because a lot of people are about to do this again over the next fifty nine days: Searching the page source for the phrase "Sold out" returns a false positive on every storefront, in every region, in every stock state. The only two fields that distinguish a sold out listing from an available one are the Shopify available boolean in the JSON feed and the schema.org availability field in the product page's JSON-LD. A screenshot of a rendered page is better evidence than a grep, but worse evidence than either of those two fields, because a rendered page is also a region. That 59 day figure is this desk's own arithmetic from today's date to 19 November 2026. Was our 18 September story wrong? No, and the honest version of why is more useful than a simple yes or no. The piece we ran on 18 September checked the shop's own feed against a wave of coverage saying the record had sold out within minutes, found available true and InStock, and printed that. Every figure in it reproduces today on the storefront it was read from. What that piece did not do was read all three storefronts. Neither did the coverage it was correcting. One of this batch's researchers made exactly the same mistake in the opposite direction this week: read the United States feed, found all three products available, and reported that as the state of the product. The editor settled it by fetching all three storefronts in consecutive seconds, which is how the regional split turned up at all. So the lesson is not that anyone lied. It is that a Shopify product's availability is a property of the storefront you loaded, not a property of the record, and that a person in London and a person in Los Angeles checking the same URL at the same second will honestly report opposite things. CONFIRMED, corroboration from an independent archive. The Internet Archive's capture of the United States limited edition page taken at 2026-09-20T11:15:52Z reads "availability":"http://schema.org/InStock" at "price":"124.98". A researcher pulled that capture at 03:25:47Z on 21 September, at 65,005 bytes compressed and 394,269 bytes decompressed. The American listing was available on 20 September and was still available when three separate reads hit it on 21 September. When does the GTA 6 album actually ship? CONFIRMED, and this is a small fact that nobody appears to have printed. A researcher fetched all nine combinations, three products across three storefronts, between 03:19:0xZ and 03:19:2xZ on 21 September. Every single one of the nine product pages renders the line Ships: 20 November 2026. StorefrontCDVinylLimited-Edition Vinyl US19.98 USD, ships 20 November 202649.98 USD, ships 20 November 2026124.98 USD, ships 20 November 2026 en-gb10.99 GBP, ships 20 November 202644.99 GBP, ships 20 November 2026108.99 GBP, ships 20 November 2026 en-eu16.99 EUR, ships 20 November 202651.99 EUR, ships 20 November 2026123.99 EUR, ships 20 November 2026 Grand Theft Auto VI releases on 19 November 2026. Apple's catalogue gives the digital album a release date of 2026-11-19T08:00:00Z, identical across six national storefronts. The physical record dispatches the day after both. Nobody who pre-orders a vinyl will be playing it while they play the game on launch night. Two caveats on that, carried from the researcher who found it. Ships is a dispatch date and not a delivery date. And it is the store's statement rather than a Rockstar one, with no primary source anywhere for why it is the 20th rather than the 19th. What is actually in the two vinyl editions? CONFIRMED from the product records themselves. The standard vinyl is described as two transparent magenta discs with blue splatter. The limited edition is two transparent magenta discs filled with blue liquid, with exclusive new artwork and packaging designs. Both list only the six released singles under Featuring, which is consistent with an album whose other twenty eight titles have not been published anywhere. The spread on official Grand Theft Auto VI physical media therefore runs from 19.98 to 124.98 US dollars, for a soundtrack, for a game that is not getting a physical disc. What this does not establish Not established: why the record is unavailable in two regions. An exhausted regional allocation, a distribution split across Warner territories or a deliberate staggered release would all look identical from outside. No statement from Rockstar, Atlantic or Warner explaining it was found. Not established: when the British or European listings changed. The Internet Archive has captures of the British CD page in this period but none of the British limited edition page, so nobody here can date the transition. Not established: that stock will not return. An available false is a state at a second, not a verdict. Not established: inventory depth anywhere. available true is Shopify's own flag and can be true for a product on continued selling with zero units. It is evidence against a sell out, not proof of stock. Checked and closed: there is no hidden fourth product. /collections/all/products.json returned the same three SKUs on every storefront. Do not reuse: the Shopify updated_at field on this store. It is stamped at the moment of your own request, on every product simultaneously, and carries no inventory information at all. The album announcement itself is covered at our 18 September piece on the 34 track record, the running record of what is sourced about the music is at the soundtrack explainer, and the release date position sits at our standing piece on 19 November. The 20 November cutoff that governs the game's own pre-order benefits is here. More on the news desk, background on the GTA 6 wiki, and the servers list and leaderboards are open.
