GTA 6 Extended Look: What Time, Per Rockstar's Own Site

by 6Charts Team Category: news 8 min read

We downloaded rockstargames.com/VI in full on August 19, 2026 and searched every byte. The Extended Look timing strings are confirmed, the 9 PM YouTube time is absent from the primary source, and we are reporting that as a gap in the record rather than contradicting anybody. Also confirmed: /VI/an-extended-look is a client-side anchor with no page behind it, there is no trailer-3 asset, there are exactly 70 screenshots across 14 sets with no gaps, 8 character clips and 123 artwork assets.

The GTA 6 Extended Look premieres on August 27 at 3 PM ET. Those are the only timing strings Rockstar publishes on its own Grand Theft Auto VI page, and we can show our working, because we downloaded that page in full on August 19, 2026 and searched every byte of it. The widely reported 9 PM ET YouTube release does not appear on that page anywhere. The string "9 PM" occurs zero times. We are reporting that as a gap between the coverage and the primary source. We are not telling you the YouTube release is off, because nothing we retrieved says so. What Rockstar's page states about the GTA 6 Extended Look time CONFIRMED, from our own retrieval of rockstargames.com/VI on August 19, 2026, HTTP 200, 964,296 bytes, ETag "qikpklsjnuknz0", searched in full. The Extended Look strings present on the page, verbatim: An Extended Look, Coming August 27 August 27 3 PM ET, which appears twice A Remind Me button linking to netflix.com/GTAVI CONFIRMED NEGATIVE, same retrieval. Across the whole 964,296 bytes, "9 PM" appears zero times and "p.m" appears zero times. The word Netflix appears once, as a component name in the page markup, alongside the netflix.com link on the button. So Rockstar's own site commits to one date, one time and one destination. Everything beyond that, including the six-hours-later YouTube release that has been reported widely and that we have no reason to doubt, reaches readers through coverage rather than through this page. That is a checkable difference and it is worth knowing which of the two you are relying on. The Extended Look page Rockstar has not actually built CONFIRMED NEGATIVE, same retrieval session. The URL /VI/an-extended-look is not a real page. It returns byte-identical content to /VI, at the same 964,296 length, carrying the same ETag. It is a client-side anchor and nothing more. Rockstar has not stood up a server-rendered Extended Look page. If one appears, it will be trivially detectable as a change in length and ETag, and it would be a reasonable indicator that the campaign is entering its next phase. There is no GTA 6 trailer 3 asset on the site CONFIRMED NEGATIVE. Exactly two trailer poster assets exist on the site, named GTAVI_Trailer1_poster and GTAVI_Trailer2_poster. There is no trailer-3 asset of any kind. There are also zero .mp4 files on the /VI homepage. We attach no interpretation to that. It is a data point in a numbering hunt that has been running for months, and it says what it says: as of August 19, Rockstar's site holds posters for two trailers. Whether a third exists, is planned or will ever appear is not a question a poster inventory can answer. Seventy screenshots, contiguously numbered across fourteen sets. That is the fixed baseline we diff against on August 27. How many GTA 6 screenshots are there? Seventy, with no gaps CONFIRMED, from our own retrieval of the media pages on August 19, 2026. The published screenshot inventory is 70 images across 14 named sets, with contiguous numbering and no gaps anywhere: Ambrosia 5, Boobie_Ike 4, Brian_Heder 4, Cal_Hampton 4 DreQuan_Priest 4, Grassrivers 4, Jason_Duval 6, Leonida_Keys 5 Lucia_Caminos 6, Mount_Kalaga_National_Park 6, Port_Gellhorn 5 Raul_Bautista 4, Real_Dimez 4, Vice_City 9 One correction we are making in public, because we would rather flag our own errors than have somebody else find them. An earlier pass on this data appeared to show a run of numbered screenshots that had never been published, which would have been a genuine story. It was a bug in our own parsing, a character class that excluded a symbol used in Next.js content hashes. The corrected run gives 70 files and zero gaps. There is no unreleased-screenshot story and we are not running one. CONFIRMED, same retrieval: exactly 8 character video clips exist on /VI/media/videos, one each for Boobie_Ike, Brian_Heder, Cal_Hampton, DreQuan_Priest, Jason_Duval, Lucia_Caminos, Raul_Bautista and Real_Dimez. CONFIRMED: 123 artwork and wallpaper assets. The rest of what the page commits to CONFIRMED, same retrieval: the page carries the strings Coming November 19, 2026 and Plays best on PlayStation 5, along with an ESRB US notice in alt text. The page's own meta description reads, verbatim: "Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." The baseline, and how to check our work on August 27 All of the above is a snapshot taken at a fixed moment, and its value is that it can be diffed. Here are the ETags we recorded on August 19, 2026, published so that anybody can repeat the check: /VI, ETag "qikpklsjnuknz0", 964,296 bytes /VI/media, ETag "zf3htr8bg1dzgt" /VI/media/screenshots, ETag "dq0xxz16dz1056z" /VI/media/videos, ETag "b7rukb1fkec8ga" /VI/media/artwork-wallpapers, ETag "13qhxduhq0vgo2k" All five pages returned HTTP 200 and all five carried the header x-nextjs-prerender: 1, meaning the content is prerendered and stable until Rockstar rebuilds it. When any of those ETags changes, something on the corresponding page changed. On August 27 we will pull all five again and publish the difference: how many screenshots were added, whether a trailer-3 asset appears, whether an Extended Look page gets stood up for real, and whether the timing strings change. What we checked Confirmed (our own retrieval of rockstargames.com/VI, August 19, 2026, HTTP 200, 964,296 bytes, ETag "qikpklsjnuknz0", searched in full): the strings "An Extended Look, Coming August 27", "August 27" and "3 PM ET", the latter twice, plus a Remind Me button linking to netflix.com/GTAVI. Confirmed negative (same retrieval): "9 PM" appears zero times and "p.m" appears zero times on that page. The widely reported 9 PM ET YouTube release is not stated anywhere on Rockstar's own site. Explicitly not claimed: that the YouTube release is not happening. We are reporting a gap between coverage and primary source, and we contradict no outlet. Confirmed negative: /VI/an-extended-look returns byte-identical content to /VI at the same length and ETag. It is a client-side anchor, and no server-rendered Extended Look page exists. Confirmed negative: only two trailer poster assets exist, GTAVI_Trailer1_poster and GTAVI_Trailer2_poster. There is no trailer-3 asset and there are zero .mp4 files on the /VI homepage. Confirmed: 70 screenshots across 14 named sets with contiguous numbering and no gaps. Ambrosia 5, Boobie_Ike 4, Brian_Heder 4, Cal_Hampton 4, DreQuan_Priest 4, Grassrivers 4, Jason_Duval 6, Leonida_Keys 5, Lucia_Caminos 6, Mount_Kalaga_National_Park 6, Port_Gellhorn 5, Raul_Bautista 4, Real_Dimez 4, Vice_City 9. Corrected in public: an earlier parse of ours appeared to show unpublished numbered screenshots. That was our own regex bug. The corrected run gives 70 files and zero gaps, and there is no unreleased-screenshot story. Confirmed: exactly 8 character video clips on /VI/media/videos, and 123 artwork and wallpaper assets. Confirmed: the page carries "Coming November 19, 2026" and "Plays best on PlayStation 5", plus an ESRB US notice in alt text. Published for verification: ETags for /VI, /VI/media, /VI/media/screenshots, /VI/media/videos and /VI/media/artwork-wallpapers, all recorded on August 19, 2026, all HTTP 200, all carrying x-nextjs-prerender: 1. Not obtained: any comment from Rockstar or Take-Two, and no runtime, structure or content detail for the Extended Look itself. We will re-pull all five pages on August 27 and publish the diff, byte counts and ETags included, on our news page. If you are lining up somewhere to play from November 19, our servers list is the place to start.
