German Supermarkets Are Advertising GTA 6 for 12 November
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news10 min read
THE NEW THING HERE IS THE GERMAN RETAIL DEVELOPMENT OF 20 OCTOBER 2026. THE NO-DISC ARRANGEMENT IS BACKGROUND THIS DESK PUBLISHED ON 15 JULY 2026 AND RE-REPORTED ON 4 AUGUST, 7 SEPTEMBER AND 9 SEPTEMBER, AND IT IS TREATED AS BACKGROUND RATHER THAN AS A DISCOVERY. THE TWO OUTLETS, BOTH READ AT 2026-10-21T03:02:19Z WITH MACHINE-READABLE DATES: pcgameshardware.de at HTTP 200 and 230,422 bytes, JSON-LD datePublished 2026-10-20T11:45:00+02:00 with dateModified identical, naming the store as EDEKA LETTNER, saying it advertised the offer on its Facebook page, confirming the box contains a download code, noting the store also offers a PlayStation 5 and reporting NO PRICE IN THE FLYER; and pcgames.de at HTTP 200 and 228,680 bytes, JSON-LD datePublished 2026-10-20T15:15:00+02:00, naming a DIFFERENT store, the EDEKA-FILIALE FALK IN BIEBERTAL, reporting further stores advertising the same offer, carrying an affiliate price of 78,99 EUR and calling the offer officially confirmed and legal. TWO CORRECTIONS TO HOW THIS IS BEING SUMMARISED ELSEWHERE, BOTH CHECKABLE. FIRST, THIS IS NOT ESTABLISHED AS A CHAIN DECISION: the two outlets name TWO DIFFERENT AND UNCONNECTED STORES, and Edeka is a cooperative of independently run retailers rather than a single chain operation, so individual stores setting their own flyers and their own prices is the normal case, and neither outlet claims a chain-wide decision. SECOND, NOBODY BROKE A STREET DATE: Rockstar's own store page sets 12 November as the physical shipping date itself, so the stores are selling on the date Rockstar set. NO INTENT IS ALLEGED AGAINST ANY OUTLET OR ANY STORE. THE FRESH VERIFICATION OF THE BACKGROUND, read first hand off store.rockstargames.com/game/buy-gta-vi at HTTP 200, 1,079,085 bytes on the wire and 1,077,419 unescaped, at 2026-10-21T03:02:54Z, with researcher 1 reading the same page at the same byte size at 03:02:35Z: the sentence "Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box." appears THREE TIMES, unqualified by region, two of them as rich-text nodes inside a call-to-action stripe with Contentful sys.id values NVPufrLfkHh1nszr7Dbd4 and 3gKrdqUjgierujxhoxpAF, with a fourth differently worded copy in the FAQ at sys.id 2HwL0ckD31BbFhapm3psu6, userFacingTitle "What is a code-in-box?", followed by "An internet connection and platform account are required to download the game." SUPPORTING DETAIL ON THE PAGE: the section header reads "Physical (Code-in-Box) Version Available" with the annotation "Now Shipping"; the shipping FAQ at sys.id KK08D8s5TTsW0fyOIamHJ says shipping starts 12 November 2026 and that orders will then ship in an estimated 1 to 7 days; the cancellation FAQ at sys.id 6xKGU5DQOrSOkjEkiz9iMi names the fulfilment partner XSOLLA; the two physical SKUs are 357725-US and 357733-US at 79.99 USD with isPhysical true and purchasable true; all six embedded SKUs carry preloadDate 1794470400000, which is 2026-11-12T08:00:00Z by researcher 1's conversion; and there is NO Last-Modified header at all. NOBODY PLAYS EARLY: pre-load begins 12 November and launch stays 19 November, and the rendered page carries "Pre-load begins November 12, 2026" from the i18n key preload-begins-date. A DATE CHECK, THE EDITOR'S OWN ARITHMETIC: 19 November 2026 is a Thursday and 12 November 2026 is also a Thursday, exactly SEVEN DAYS EARLIER, consistent with the "7-Day Pre-load" string researcher 1 found on both PlayStation edition blocks. HOW FAR THE ARRANGEMENT REACHES: the no-disc sentence is unqualified, BUT the only two purchasable SKU records are named "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5 (US/CA) SKU" and "Grand Theft Auto VI XBX (US/CA) SKU " in US dollars, so the storefront read here is UNITED STATES AND CANADA, and the corroboration for another market comes from the German coverage rather than from Rockstar, which also reports Rockstar stating that redemption conditions depend on platform and region and notes that a redeemed code cannot be passed to a next buyer. LIMITS: THIS ARTICLE MAKES NO CLAIM ABOUT WHETHER ANY OF THIS IS A CHANGE, because the Internet Archive availability API answered HTTP 200 at 279 bytes at 2026-10-21T03:11:35Z reporting a 4 July 2026 snapshot of this page, and fetching that snapshot returned HTTP 403 at 24 bytes with the body "Blocked by egress policy" and then failed with a connection reset, SO ITS CONTENTS WERE NEVER READ. The claim that Rockstar announced the 12 November packaged date back in JUNE stays attributed to the outlet carrying it, since the GraphQL posts feed returns only the 25 newest posts, oldest 10/6/26, and widening it with a first argument returned HTTP 200 at 172 bytes with a KnownArgumentNames error. Three guessed locale-prefixed store URLs returned HTTP 404 and are recorded as failed guesses rather than as findings. The two physical SKUs carry a stock field reading zero while the same objects say purchasable true, and researcher 1 says explicitly DO NOT PRINT SOLD OUT, so this desk does not. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and this desk's fetches use a standard desktop browser user agent against specific public URLs rather than crawling.
Individual German supermarket stores began advertising the boxed copy of Grand Theft Auto VI for sale on 12 November 2026, a week before the 19 November launch, and two outlets reported it on 20 October with machine-readable timestamps: pcgameshardware.de at HTTP 200 and 230,422 bytes with JSON-LD datePublished 2026-10-20T11:45:00+02:00, and pcgames.de at HTTP 200 and 228,680 bytes with datePublished 2026-10-20T15:15:00+02:00, both read by this desk at 2026-10-21T03:02:19Z. The box they are selling holds a download code and no disc, which is background this desk published in July and has re-verified today.
What the two outlets actually report
The first names the store as Edeka Lettner, says the store advertised the offer on its Facebook page, confirms the box contains a download code, notes the store is also offering a PlayStation 5 and reports no price in the flyer. Its headline translates as the game arriving at Edeka a week before release with the disc missing from the box.
The second names a different store, saying the advertising first appeared at the Edeka-Filiale Falk in Biebertal, with reports of further stores advertising the same offer. That store promises a good price on Facebook and is already taking pre-orders. The piece carries an affiliate price of 78,99 EUR, calls the product a Code-in-the-Box edition and states the offer is officially confirmed and legal.
Two corrections to how this is being summarised elsewhere
One. This is not established as a chain decision. Aggregator summaries describe a German supermarket chain taking the game into its range. The two outlets name two different and unconnected stores, Edeka Lettner and Edeka Falk in Biebertal, and Edeka is a cooperative of independently run retailers rather than a single chain operation, so individual stores setting their own flyers and their own prices is the normal case. Nothing this desk read establishes a chain-wide decision and neither outlet claims one.
Two. Nobody broke a street date. The "a week early" framing implies the stores jumped a date somebody set for them. Rockstar's own store page sets 12 November as the physical shipping date itself. The stores are selling on the date Rockstar set. No intent is alleged against any outlet or any store.
The background, stated plainly, because this desk has run it before
The no-disc arrangement is not news and this desk is not presenting it as news. This site published it on 15 July 2026 and three times since, on 4 August, 7 September and 9 September. A reader who read any of those pieces already knows the box holds a download code. What follows is a fresh verification of the same arrangement at a current instant, which is what makes the German retail story checkable rather than a discovery in its own right.
Read first hand off store.rockstargames.com/game/buy-gta-vi, HTTP 200 at 1,079,085 bytes on the wire and 1,077,419 unescaped, at 2026-10-21T03:02:54Z, with researcher 1 reading the same page at the same byte size at 03:02:35Z. The sentence appears three times, verbatim and unqualified by region: "Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box." Two of the three are rich-text nodes inside a call-to-action stripe with Contentful sys.id values NVPufrLfkHh1nszr7Dbd4 and 3gKrdqUjgierujxhoxpAF. A fourth, differently worded copy sits in the FAQ at sys.id 2HwL0ckD31BbFhapm3psu6, whose userFacingTitle is "What is a code-in-box?", followed by "An internet connection and platform account are required to download the game."
What is new on the page itself, as supporting detail
The section header reads "Physical (Code-in-Box) Version Available" with an annotation reading "Now Shipping", and the shipping FAQ at sys.id KK08D8s5TTsW0fyOIamHJ says "Shipping will be available starting November 12, 2026. After game launch, physical orders will ship in an estimated 1-7 days, depending on shipping selection."
The cancellation FAQ at sys.id 6xKGU5DQOrSOkjEkiz9iMi names the fulfilment partner: "To cancel a pre-order from the Rockstar Store, please contact our fulfillment partner, Xsolla, directly to cancel your pre-order using the physical item form", followed by a help URL. The two physical SKU records are 357725-US for PlayStation 5 and 357733-US for Xbox Series X, both at 79.99 USD, both isPhysical true, purchasable true and visible true, with maxQuantity 4 and amountToGetFreeShipping 74.99, and the pre-order button's link target is t2gp://checkout-physical. All six embedded SKUs carry preloadDate 1794470400000, which is 2026-11-12T08:00:00Z by researcher 1's conversion. The response headers gave server: Apache/2.4.37 (Oracle Linux) OpenSSL/1.1.1k and no Last-Modified header at all.

Pre-load begins12 November 2026
Launch19 November 2026, a Thursday
Price on Rockstar's own page$79.99, the only price literal anywhere in the payload
An official Rockstar Grand Theft Auto VI screenshot from Rockstar's own media pages, included to illustrate the piece. It is a published in-engine still and it carries none of the storefront strings, retail dates or content identifiers discussed here.
Nobody plays early, and the calendar says why
Buying the box on 12 November buys a code that unlocks a pre-load. Pre-load begins 12 November and launch stays 19 November. The rendered store page carries "Pre-load begins November 12, 2026", generated from the i18n key preload-begins-date.
One date check, the editor's own arithmetic: 19 November 2026 is a Thursday and 12 November 2026 is also a Thursday, exactly seven days earlier. That is internally consistent with the "7-Day Pre-load" string researcher 1 found on both PlayStation edition blocks.
How far the arrangement reaches, stated precisely
The no-disc sentence carries no regional qualifier. But the only two purchasable SKU records on that page are explicitly scoped, named "Grand Theft Auto VI PS5 (US/CA) SKU" and "Grand Theft Auto VI XBX (US/CA) SKU ", both in US dollars, so the storefront this desk read is a United States and Canada one. The corroboration for another market comes from the German coverage rather than from Rockstar. That coverage adds a regional caveat of its own: it reports Rockstar stating that redemption conditions depend on platform and region, and warns buyers of imported copies. It also notes that a redeemed download code cannot be passed to a next buyer, because digital entitlements are account bound, so the box only resells while the code is unredeemed.
The supportable sentence is the narrow one. Rockstar's United States and Canada storefront states the physical version carries a download code and no disc, and German retail coverage describes the same arrangement in Germany. Anything stronger, such as calling it worldwide policy, is not established here.
Limits
The no-disc arrangement is prior coverage and is treated as background here. This desk published it on 15 July 2026 and re-reported it on 4 August, 7 September and 9 September 2026. The new element in this piece is the dated German retail development of 20 October 2026 and a current first-hand verification of the storefront strings.
This article makes no claim about whether any of this is a change. The Internet Archive availability API answered, HTTP 200 at 279 bytes at 2026-10-21T03:11:35Z, reporting a snapshot of this very page at timestamp 20260704195704. Fetching that snapshot returned HTTP 403 at 24 bytes with the body "Blocked by egress policy" over http at 03:11:55Z, and failed with a connection reset over https at 03:12:25Z. So the existence of a 4 July 2026 snapshot is known and its contents were never read. Nothing here says the disc was dropped, that the policy is new, or that it has always been the plan.
One claim in the German coverage is carried as that outlet's claim. It reports that Rockstar announced back in June that the packaged version would be available from 12 November, coinciding with pre-load. This desk has not verified a June announcement first hand. Rockstar's GraphQL posts feed returns only the 25 newest posts, whose oldest is 10/6/26, and an attempt to widen it with a first argument returned HTTP 200 at 172 bytes carrying a KnownArgumentNames error. A guessed Newswire slug for a pre-order post returned HTTP 404 at 2,447 bytes, recorded so nobody repeats the guess.
Three locale-prefixed store URLs were guessed and all three returned HTTP 404 at 2026-10-21T03:13:00Z, at 212,885, 217,653 and 214,573 bytes. Those are failed guesses at a URL pattern and they say nothing about regional policy. The store plainly does support locales, since the asset survey found box-front variants named for en_us, zh_tw, fr_fr, ko_kr and zh_hans, so the mechanism is simply not a path prefix.
The two physical SKUs carry a stock field reading zero, read first hand by researcher 1. The same objects carry purchasable true and visible true and the page renders a pre-order button at $79.99, and researcher 1 says explicitly not to print "sold out". This article does not. What the field means is unresolved.
Retrieval method, disclosed. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and this desk's fetches use a standard desktop browser user agent against specific public URLs rather than crawling.
