GTA 6 Pre-Load Opens 12 November, According to Rockstar's Own Store Records
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news9 min read
We fetched Rockstar's store at 15:25:38Z on 28 August, HTTP 200 at 143,452 bytes transferred and 956,422 decoded, and read all six SKU objects. Every one carries a pre-load date of 12 November 2026, and the page states in words that physical versions contain a download code to support it. Four records then give a release time of 05:00Z and two give 08:00Z, which is midnight Eastern against midnight Pacific. We print both, note that Xbox and PlayStation independently give 05:00Z, and say plainly that we did not resolve the split. Also inside: what stockAvailable 0 does and does not mean.
Grand Theft Auto VI unlocks on 19 November 2026. That date has been on every front page since the Extended Look premiered. The second date, the one that decides whether the game is sitting on your console when the clock turns over or whether you spend launch night watching a progress bar, is 12 November, and it has been in Rockstar's own commerce records the whole time.
All six Grand Theft Auto VI product records on Rockstar's web store carry a preloadDate of 2026-11-12T08:00:00Z. The prose on the same page says it in words. We fetched that page ourselves at 15:25:38Z on 28 August, read the records, and reproduce all six of them below. While we were in there we also found a contradiction in Rockstar's own data about what time the game actually unlocks, which we are going to print without pretending we solved it.
When does GTA 6 pre-load start?
Rockstar's store states 12 November 2026, one week before release.
CONFIRMED, self-fetched. The page at store.rockstargames.com/game/buy-gta-vi answered HTTP 200 at 143,452 bytes transferred and 956,422 bytes decoded at 2026-08-28T15:25:38Z. Response headers gave server: CloudFront, etag: "yh9ugokmvakhza" and cache-control: public, s-maxage=60, stale-while-revalidate=300. A section of that page carrying the DOM id physical-(code-in-box)-version-available- reads:
Physical (Code-in-Box) Version Available. Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box. While supplies last, further details below. Estimated shipping date: November 12, 2026. Pre-Order Now $79.99
Two separating dashes in Rockstar's original have been replaced with full stops for house style. Nothing else in that passage has been altered, and the asterisk preceding "While supplies last" is Rockstar's own.
Now the important qualification, and it is the reason this piece is worded the way it is. preloadDate is a field in a commerce record. It is not an announcement. We have found no Rockstar pre-load announcement anywhere, on the Newswire or elsewhere, and a field in a storefront database can be changed by whoever maintains that database without anybody being told. What raises this above a curiosity is that the prose on the same page is a public statement, aimed at buyers, and it agrees with the field exactly. So the accurate construction throughout this article is that Rockstar's store states 12 November. Rockstar has not announced it.
What is actually in Rockstar's six GTA 6 store records?
CONFIRMED, all six from the same 15:25:38Z fetch. Two are the physical code in box products, one per platform. Four are what Rockstar calls Link Out records, the $0.00 objects that exist to bounce a shopper to the PlayStation or Xbox storefront.

The pre-load column is the only one where all six agree without argument. Every record carries the raw value 1794470400000, which is a millisecond epoch timestamp, and which converts to 2026-11-12T08:00:00Z.
Every image on this page is official Rockstar material. Nothing on this page comes from leaked material, and we did not view any.
What time does GTA 6 unlock on 19 November?
Rockstar's own data gives two answers, and we are printing both because we cannot honestly pick one.
CONFIRMED, same fetch. Four of the six records give a release timestamp of 2026-11-19T05:00:00Z. Two, both Link Out records, give 2026-11-19T08:00:00Z. 05:00Z is midnight in US Eastern time. 08:00Z is midnight in US Pacific time. The two records that disagree are the first of each platform pair, and their otherwise identical siblings agree with the majority, which is the shape you would expect from a data entry difference rather than from two genuinely different unlock plans.
CONFIRMED, and it makes 05:00Z the better supported figure. Both platform holders give 05:00Z independently of Rockstar. Microsoft's DisplayCatalog record for the Standard Edition carries OriginalReleaseDate: 2026-11-19T05:00:00.0000000Z, and every pre-order availability window on that record ends at 2026-11-19T04:59:59.0000000Z, one second earlier. That fetch returned HTTP 200 at 13,310 bytes transferred and 33,123 decoded at 15:20:29Z. The PlayStation Store Apollo cache for the Standard Edition gives "releaseDate":"2026-11-19T05:00:00Z", HTTP 200 at 61,497 transferred and 442,452 decoded at 15:22:02Z.
We did not resolve the split. Two console storefronts agreeing on 05:00Z is a strong signal and it is not a proof, and the 08:00Z pair could as easily be a timezone handling quirk on records that never render a countdown to anybody as it could be a second real unlock time. If you are planning your evening around this, 05:00Z is where the weight of the evidence sits, and we would not tell you to book time off on it.
Is the GTA 6 code in box sold out?
We do not know, and neither does anybody else who has only read this page.
CONFIRMED as a value, not as a meaning. Both physical SKUs carry stockAvailable: 0. That is the number in the record. There are at least three ordinary readings of it. It could mean the allocation has gone. It could mean stock has not been loaded into the system yet, which would be unremarkable for a product with an estimated shipping date of 12 November. It could mean the field is simply not tracked for this line and defaults to zero. The store's own translation dictionary contains a "sold-out":"Sold Out" string, so the interface is capable of rendering that state, but we could not confirm the page actually renders it for these products, and a string existing in a dictionary is not the same as a state being displayed.
We are printing the value because it is real and reproducible. We are not telling you the code in box is sold out, and if you see that claim today, ask what it is sourced to.
Does the GTA 6 physical edition come with a disc?
No, and Rockstar says so on the page quoted above: the box contains a download code and no disc. This desk covered the disc question in full on 26 August and there is nothing to add to it here beyond noting that Rockstar's own commerce copy now states it in plain words rather than leaving readers to infer it from the phrase "code in box". Our earlier piece is on the news page.
What we checked, and what we did not
We queried the US market only. Regional pricing, regional pre-load timings and regional stock values outside the United States and Canada are unchecked. Rockstar's store serves different SKU sets by market and we have no basis for saying the 12 November value is global.
Everything above has a five minute shelf life. The Grand Theft Auto VI site is served from a Next.js prerender carrying x-nextjs-stale-time: 300, a five minute stale window, and the store page in front of it carries a CloudFront cache control of s-maxage=60, stale-while-revalidate=300. Values can change between one fetch and the next. That is why every figure in this article is stamped with the time we read it, and it is why we would rather you re-checked than quoted us in three weeks.
There is no independent Rockstar confirmation of the pre-load date. We looked. The Newswire has no reachable public feed or search API, and the pages we could reach carry no pre-load post. So the store page is both our source and our only source for the words, with the SKU records corroborating the number.
One more record from the same page, for completeness. CONFIRMED: the JSON-LD block gives "availability": "https://schema.org/PreOrder", "availabilityStarts": "2026-11-19", a price of 79.99 USD, and an audience with requiredMinAge: 18, for both a gamePlatform of PlayStation 5 and one of Xbox Series X.
What is and is not established
CONFIRMED, self-fetched at 15:25:38Z, HTTP 200 at 143,452 bytes transferred and 956,422 decoded: all six Grand Theft Auto VI SKU records on Rockstar's store carry a pre-load date of 2026-11-12T08:00:00Z, and the page states in prose that physical versions contain a download code to support pre-load on November 12.
Stated as Rockstar's store, not as Rockstar: preloadDate is a commerce field rather than an announcement. The prose on the same page is a public statement and it agrees with the field. We found no separate Rockstar pre-load announcement.
CONFIRMED and unresolved: four records give a release time of 2026-11-19T05:00:00Z and two give 2026-11-19T08:00:00Z. Both are printed. We picked neither.
CONFIRMED, corroborating 05:00Z: Xbox DisplayCatalog gives OriginalReleaseDate 2026-11-19T05:00:00.0000000Z with pre-order windows ending 04:59:59Z, and the PlayStation Store Apollo cache gives 2026-11-19T05:00:00Z, both fetched independently of Rockstar.
CONFIRMED as a value only: both physical SKUs carry stockAvailable 0. We do not know whether that means sold out, not yet stocked or untracked, and we do not claim the code in box is sold out.
CONFIRMED: the physical edition contains a download code and no disc, in Rockstar's own words on its own store.
Limits printed: US market only; a five minute prerender stale window on the source page, hence a checked-at time on every figure; and no independent Rockstar confirmation of the pre-load date at any other primary source.
Every figure above came out of a page anybody can request. We would rather readers checked our work than trusted it, which is the same standard we apply on the rest of the news desk. If you are counting down to 12 November with somewhere to be in the meantime, our servers list and our wiki are both open.
