The GTA 6 Three Episodes Claim, Checked Against Netflix Itself

A screenshot said to show Netflix Portugal listing three separate episodes under "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" spread across the GTA 6 community on August 13, 2026. It has been read as proof that the showcase on August 27 is a multi part series rather than one video. We fetched the live Netflix title page ourselves on August 14, 2026 and searched its source. The structured data on that page describes a single Movie. There are no episode markers on it of any kind. We are not calling the screenshot fake, and we set out that distinction below. What Netflix's own page says today CONFIRMED (our own retrieval, August 14, 2026): we pulled netflix.com/title/83035795 in full, 3,167,690 bytes, and searched the whole document. The embedded JSON-LD carries exactly one content type, the literal string "@type":"Movie". There is no TVSeries object anywhere on the page. Occurrences of numberOfEpisodes: 0. Occurrences of partOfSeason: 0. Occurrences of TVSeries: 0. The title string "name":"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" is present, so we were reading the right page. The only "duration" value on the entire page is "PT22S". That is twenty two seconds, and it belongs to a teaser, not to the feature. A second "@type":"VideoObject" is present. That is the same teaser. Those three zeros are the load-bearing part. Netflix marks up series with the fields that describe series. A title with episodes carries a TVSeries type and episode counts, and a title without them carries neither. On August 14 this one carries neither, and the only stated duration in the file is a 22 second clip. A live fetch tells you the state of a page at the moment you fetch it. It cannot tell you what a regional page looked like yesterday. Two outlets read the same screenshot and got different numbers This is the part that should give everybody pause, and it has nothing to do with Netflix. CONFIRMED as to what was published (our own retrieval of both articles, August 14, 2026). Two outlets ran the story from the same circulated image. Their episode runtimes do not match. GameRant, by Joshua Duckworth, gives the three parts as 23 minutes 37 seconds, 24 minutes 41 seconds and 18 minutes 29 seconds. Beebom, published at 20:04 IST on August 13, 2026, gives "the first around 22 minutes, the second at 24 minutes, and the final at 16 minutes". One outlet reports figures to the second. The other reports round numbers, and its round numbers are not roundings of the first outlet's figures. 18 minutes 29 seconds does not become "around 16 minutes" by any honest rounding, and 23 minutes 37 seconds does not become "around 22 minutes". GameRant is candid about how it got there. Its own description of the method, verbatim: "clicking on the image, zooming in, and squinting hard reveals". That is an unusually honest sentence to find in a news story, and it tells you how much confidence the resulting numbers deserve. Beebom is equally candid about the image itself. It credits the picture to "Reddit/Rsodyyy" and then says, verbatim: "It's possible someone generated this image shared on the GTA 6 subreddit with AI, as the subreddit is already filled with similar AI-generated images." So the two write-ups that put this story into circulation disagree on the numbers, one describes squinting at a JPEG as its method, and the other raises the possibility that the JPEG was generated. That is the evidentiary base underneath every "GTA 6 Extended Look episodes" headline this week. Two outlets, one screenshot, two sets of runtimes. The disagreement is the story. The runtime claims cannot all be true Count how many incompatible runtimes for one video are in circulation. Only one can survive August 27. REPORTED, not verified by us at origin: a Netflix app playback bar glitch said to show roughly 30 minutes, circulated around August 6. REPORTED, not verified by us at origin: a Netflix customer support chat screenshot said to state "approximately 20 minutes". The outlet that ran it noted the agent could be an AI chatbot. REPORTED, and the subject of this article: three episodes totalling well over an hour, with the totals themselves disputed between the two outlets carrying them. A single 20 minute video, a single 30 minute video and a three part series running past an hour are three different products. Every one of these has been presented somewhere as the answer to how long is the GTA 6 Extended Look. At most one is right, and possibly none of them. What Rockstar has actually published CONFIRMED (our own retrieval, August 14, 2026): we fetched rockstargames.com/VI in full, 964,296 bytes. Rockstar's own meta description string reads, verbatim: "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27." The page also carries the line "An Extended Look, Coming August 27" and a countdown reading "August 27 / 3 / PM ET / Remind Me". No runtime and no episode count appear anywhere in Rockstar's own copy. Rockstar has given a date, two times and a set of places to watch. Everything beyond that is somebody else's inference. What we could not check, said plainly We never saw the original screenshot. Reddit and X are both unreachable to us, so the image reaches us only through the two outlets that wrote it up. We have not examined it, we have not looked at its metadata, and we have no basis for an opinion on whether it was made in a browser, in an editor or by a model. The listing is reportedly gone. GameRant states, verbatim: "Although it has already been removed, the Netflix Portugal page temporarily listed three episodes". If a regional page did carry three entries and then stopped, and no archive of it exists that we can reach, then the claim is now unfalsifiable. It cannot be proved and it cannot be disproved. We are not calling it fake. We have no evidence that it is, and Beebom's own caveat about AI generated images on that subreddit is Beebom's caution rather than a finding. Saying a claim cannot be checked is different from saying it is false, and we are saying the first thing. What we can say is narrow and solid. The live Netflix page classifies this title as a single Movie. It carries zero episode markers of any type. The only duration on it is 22 seconds and belongs to a teaser. Rockstar states no runtime and no episode count. Everything else here rests on a picture nobody covering it has authenticated. Is the GTA 6 Extended Look a series? On the evidence available on August 14, there is nothing in Netflix's own data or in Rockstar's own copy that describes it as one. There is a screenshot that two outlets read differently, that neither authenticated, and that points at a page which has reportedly already been taken down. The date is not in doubt. The Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and lands free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. That is the only part of this story with an official source behind it. Confirmed as to publication: GameRant gives 23 minutes 37 seconds, 24 minutes 41 seconds and 18 minutes 29 seconds, and describes its method as "clicking on the image, zooming in, and squinting hard reveals". Beebom gives around 22, 24 and 16 minutes, credits the image to "Reddit/Rsodyyy", and raises the possibility that it was AI generated. Stated plainly: the two outlets working from the same image published different runtimes, and the difference is larger than rounding. Unverified: the screenshot itself.
