Alchemist is the official asset converter Cfx.re shipped alongside FiveM for GTAV Enhanced. Its documentation describes it, verbatim, as "a tool for players, server owners, and asset creators who want to convert assets originally made for GTAV Legacy (Gen8) to be compatible with GTAV Enhanced (Gen9)," and the Enhanced onboarding guide introduces it as "a tool to convert existing assets to work with FiveM for GTAV Enhanced."
What it converts
The docs enumerate the supported filetypes as "YDR, YTD, YFT, YPT and YDD": drawables, texture dictionaries, fragments, particles and drawable dictionaries. That covers the bulk of what a custom vehicle, map or clothing pack is made of. The tool requires Windows 11 and ships in both GUI and command-line forms.
The escrow blocker
The documented behaviour on protected content is the detail that matters most. Per the official docs, if the Alchemist GUI "hits an escrowed asset it will fail and stop the process," while the CLI "will skip escrowed assets automatically and note them in the output report." The CLI degrades gracefully and the GUI does not, but the outcome is the same: the escrowed asset is not converted. Combined with asset escrow being "not implemented yet" on Enhanced, this means an operator who bought protected scripts or vehicle packs on Legacy currently has no sanctioned route to bring them across, and that gap is a major reason production servers are staying put, as covered on the Enhanced and Cfx Marketplace pages.
Documentation caveats
The Enhanced migration guide these behaviours live in was written young: its documentation file carries a single commit, "add FiveM for GTAV Enhanced docs" by promethium-cfx, dated July 20, 2026, the day before early access opened, and it had not been revised as of early August. Everything above is Cfx.re's own documented behaviour during a fast-moving early access, so expect it to change before full launch.
