One in Five Open Rockstar Jobs Is Now a Security Role
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news9 min read
We pulled the machine readable job board and counted every role by hand rather than repeating anyone else's number. One in five open jobs at Rockstar is a security role, fourteen of the fifteen opened since late June, and the only August posting sets up anti-cheat operations in a fourth time zone. Not one of them mentions GTA 6, and we say so.
We pulled Rockstar's entire job board on August 11, 2026 and counted every open role by hand. There are 72. Fifteen of them are security, anti-cheat, threat intelligence or anti-fraud jobs. That is one in five of everything Rockstar is currently hiring for, one hundred days before GTA 6 ships.
And exactly one role on that entire board was posted in August. It is an anti-cheat management job in a country where Rockstar has never run a game security team before.
The count, and how to check it yourself
CONFIRMED (our own retrieval of the machine readable job board, August 11, 2026, at boards-api.greenhouse.io/v1/boards/rockstargames/jobs): 72 open roles. Fifteen carry security, anti-cheat, threat intelligence or anti-fraud titles, which is 20.8 per cent. This is our own count from the raw data, not a figure repeated from anywhere, and re-running that endpoint will reproduce it.
By city: Dundee 5, Leeds 2, Manhattan 2, Andover 1, Carlsbad 1, Oakville 1, Bengaluru 1, Edinburgh 1, London 1. Nine cities across four countries.
The dates matter more than the total. Fourteen of the fifteen were first published on or after June 24, 2026. The fifteenth, an Application Security Engineer in Dundee, dates back to February 25, 2026. We mention that because a tidy cluster is a better story than a messy one, and the messy version is the true one.
Some of the titles are blunt about the job. Two Senior Cheat Software Engineer roles opened on July 14, in Edinburgh and Dundee. Three Senior Game Security Operations Manager roles opened on July 21 and 22, in Leeds, Dundee and London. Five Associate Principal Threat Intelligence Analyst roles opened on a single day, June 26, across Manhattan, Andover, Carlsbad, Oakville and Dundee.
The August posting, and what it implies about coverage
CONFIRMED, read at source: Game Security Operations Manager, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. First published 2026-08-07 at 05:31 Eastern, updated the same morning at 07:54. It is the only role on the entire board first published in August.
Verbatim from the posting:
"Rockstar is on the lookout for a passionate Manager to lead and develop our Game Security team. In this dynamic role you'll be committed to ensuring our games and services remain secure and enjoyable by protecting against cheaters, vulnerabilities, and exploits."
And on what the team is for: "The Rockstar Games Security team is responsible for protecting our players, our games, and intellectual property from malicious actors."
The day to day, verbatim: "Lead, mentor, and manage a talented and cross functional team engaged in day-to-day anti-cheat operations for our online titles." The post is on site, verbatim "This is a full-time, in-office position based in Rockstar's large game development studio in Bangalore, India."
The line that suggests a structure rather than a single hire is in the requirements, verbatim: "3+ years of experience leading high performing teams, particularly in geographically dispersed locations."
Put the map together. Existing senior game security operations roles in London, Dundee and Leeds. A new operations manager in Bengaluru, explicitly asked about running dispersed teams. Those time zones are roughly five and a half hours apart. What that describes is enforcement coverage that does not stop when the United Kingdom goes to bed. Whether Rockstar gets there is a different question, but that is what the postings are shaped like.
Nine cities, four countries, fifteen roles. None of the postings name the game they are being hired ahead of.
The important caveat, stated plainly
Not one of these fifteen postings mentions GTA 6. Not one. They say "our online titles" and "live service titles" and "a live service or large-scale AAA multiplayer game".
Rockstar runs GTA Online, which is thirteen years old and still one of the most played games in the world, and Red Dead Online. Both have long standing cheating problems that would justify this hiring on their own. We are showing you a hiring pattern and its timing. We are not telling you it is a GTA 6 anti-cheat team, because the documents do not say that and we will not fill the gap for them.
What we can say without stretching: a company one hundred days from the biggest launch in the medium's history is spending a fifth of its open headcount on people who stop cheating, and it has been doing so since late June.
The other half of the board, and why it matters to server players
Since this is a server list, the Creator Platform roles are the ones we watch. CONFIRMED, same retrieval: eight open Creator Platform roles, including two Senior Software Engineer, FiveM posts, in London (first published July 16) and Leeds (first published June 17). Both were updated on August 7, 2026, the same day as the Bengaluru security role, which usually indicates an active refresh rather than a stale listing.
Verbatim from the London posting: "Rockstar is on the lookout for a talented Software Engineer who possesses a strong interest in all the low-level technology that makes a modern video game tick to support the Cfx.re creator platforms, including FiveM and RedM."
And the team description, verbatim, which is the closest thing to a statement of intent about community servers that Rockstar publishes anywhere:
"The Rockstar Creator Platform Team deliver a technology platform that enables players to experience community created content on fully customized dedicated servers where creators can develop their own game modes and other modifications in a variety of scripting languages."
Same caveat, and it is not optional: FiveM and RedM are platforms for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Neither posting names GTA 6. Rockstar staffing the roleplay server platform in August 2026 tells you the platform is being invested in. It does not tell you what runs on it next, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing.
What is confirmed and what is not
Confirmed (our own count, August 11, 2026): 72 open roles, 15 security titled, 20.8 per cent, across nine cities.
Confirmed: exactly one role first published in August 2026, the Bengaluru Game Security Operations Manager, on August 7.
Confirmed: every quoted line from the Bengaluru and London FiveM postings, read in the job board's own data.
Confirmed: eight open Creator Platform roles, with both FiveM engineering posts refreshed on August 7.
Stated honestly: fourteen of the fifteen security roles date from June 24 onward. The fifteenth is from February. It is not a clean cluster.
Not established: that any of this hiring is for GTA 6. No posting says so.
Not announced: any GTA 6 anti-cheat system, any anti-cheat vendor, any kernel level driver, or any policy on mods. Rockstar has published nothing on any of it.
Not announced: FiveM style community server support for GTA 6, in any form.
Related and confirmed elsewhere: in his August 7 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick said of staffing that "we're right-sized for the opportunity, and if anything, we're in growth mode". A board of 72 open roles is consistent with that.
Job counts move. This is a snapshot taken on August 11, 2026. Roles get filled and pulled. Re-run the endpoint and you may get a different number, which is exactly why we published the method alongside the figure.
GTA 6 arrives November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If a real anti-cheat announcement comes, it will come from Rockstar and it will be on our news page the same day. Until then, the job board is the most honest signal available, and it says Rockstar is hiring people to catch cheaters faster than it is hiring almost anything else. Our servers list is where to find a community to play with when the time comes.
