GTA 6 Is Still Rating Pending With 86 Days to Go
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news6 min read
We re-verified the PlayStation Store listing and read the Xbox listing alongside it, quoting the raw content rating objects from both. There is no Blood and Gore, no Intense Violence and no Strong Sexual Content on either store, because there is no final ESRB rating to carry them. Also here: no PC listing, 13 supported languages, $79.99 and $99.99 pricing, and a keyword trap on Rockstar's own store page that would have produced a false GTA 6 on Steam story. ESRB, the Australian board and PEGI were all unreachable, so we assert only what the storefronts publish.
Grand Theft Auto VI is 86 days from release and it still has no final age rating. Two first-party storefronts, Sony's and Microsoft's, both publish the game as Rating Pending, both publish no content descriptors at all, and both agree on the release moment to the second.
None of that is alarming on its own. It is worth knowing, and it is worth knowing accurately, because the claim "GTA 6 is rated M" has been circulating for months and the storefronts do not say that.
What do the storefronts actually say?
CONFIRMED, editor re-verified at the PlayStation Store on 25 August 2026. The Ultimate edition listing, HTTP 200 at 472,241 bytes, carries this in its own structured data, verbatim: "contentRating":{"authority":"ESRB","description":"ESRB Rating Pending Mature 17+","name":"ESRB_RP17","interactiveElements":[],"descriptors":[{"description":"May contain content inappropriate for children","name":"ESRB_MAY_CONTAIN_CONTENT_INAPPROPRIATE_FOR_CHILDREN"}]}.
The interactive elements array is empty. The single descriptor is the generic Rating Pending boilerplate line, which is what a listing shows when there is nothing else to show.
CONFIRMED at the Xbox Store. The listing, HTTP 200 at 459,799 bytes, carries: "contentRating":{"boardName":"ESRB","description":"RATING PENDING LIKELY MATURE 17+","disclaimers":["May contain content inappropriate for children. Visit ESRB.org for rating information."],"descriptors":[],"interactiveDescriptions":[],"rating":"RATING PENDING LIKELY MATURE 17+","ratingAge":17}.
Both the descriptors array and the interactive descriptions array are empty.

Two independently maintained first-party catalogues agree with each other. There is no final ESRB rating published on either. There is no "Blood and Gore", no "Intense Violence", no "Strong Sexual Content", none of the descriptors a Mature certificate normally carries. And there is no "In-Game Purchases" interactive element on either store, despite the Ultimate edition bundling a GTA+ subscription.
When exactly does GTA 6 unlock?
CONFIRMED. Both stores publish 05:00 UTC on 19 November 2026, and they agree to the second. That is midnight Eastern on 19 November, which is the usual Rockstar pattern for a worldwide simultaneous unlock.
A supporting detail from the Xbox listing that points the same way: the preorder price offer carries "endDateUtc":"11/19/2026 04:59:59", expiring one second before the game unlocks.
Every image on this page is official Rockstar material, taken from the studio's own character video clips. Nothing on this page comes from leaked material, and we did not view any.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
CONFIRMED NEGATIVE from the storefronts. The PlayStation listing gives platforms as PS5. The Xbox listing gives available on as Xbox Series X. Neither lists a PC version, and no PC listing exists on either store.
A trap worth printing, because we nearly walked into it. Rockstar's own store page contains 8 occurrences of the word "Steam", 2 of "Epic" and 2 of "Windows". Every single one is a generic internationalisation dictionary entry for GTA+ subscription management, in a dictionary that also happens to contain "Stadia", a service that no longer exists.
A literal keyword search would have produced a "GTA 6 coming to Steam" story out of a translation string table. That is exactly how bad scoops get made, and it is the second time in a week we have found this class of error on a Rockstar page. Counting occurrences of a word is not the same as reading a page.
What else the listings tell us
CONFIRMED. The Xbox store description states, verbatim: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience."
CONFIRMED. Thirteen supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain) and Portuguese (Brazil). No Arabic, no Turkish, no Dutch and no European Portuguese.
CONFIRMED, and a curiosity. The Xbox listing shows an average rating of 4.9 across 5,234 ratings, on a game nobody has played.
Should anyone be worried about Rating Pending?
Not on its own. Rating Pending is the normal state of a game for months before release, publishers routinely submit to the boards late in production, and a certificate arriving in the last few weeks before launch is unremarkable. Marketing materials carry Rating Pending until a board rules, which is why every trailer has shown it.
The only genuinely interesting thing is the profile. A game 86 days from a simultaneous worldwide launch, with tens of millions of preorders and physical discs to manufacture, is a big object to still be waiting on a certificate. That observation is as far as the evidence goes.
What we could not check
We tried to go to the ESRB's own database and failed, and we would rather say so than pretend we did.
The ESRB search endpoint accepted our query and then ignored the keyword entirely, returning identical unrelated results regardless of which search type we used, with a total pinned at 34,123 every time. That is a broken search rather than an answer, so we cannot use it in either direction.
The Australian Classification Board was unreachable from our environment across repeated attempts, returning HTTP 503, then protocol errors, then timing out. PEGI timed out twice. So we hold no primary ratings-board verification at all, from any board, and any ratings-board claim published this week should be treated as reported at best.
Which is why this piece asserts exactly one thing about ratings: what the two storefronts publish. We are not asserting that GTA 6 has no ESRB certificate. We are telling you that as of 25 August, neither Sony nor Microsoft is showing one.
What is and is not established
Confirmed (editor re-verified at the PlayStation Store, 25 August 2026, HTTP 200 at 472,241 bytes): the listing publishes ESRB Rating Pending Mature 17+, an empty interactive elements array, and one generic Rating Pending descriptor. Release date 2026-11-19T05:00:00Z.
Confirmed (Xbox Store, HTTP 200 at 459,799 bytes): the listing publishes RATING PENDING LIKELY MATURE 17+, with both the descriptors array and the interactive descriptions array empty. Release date 2026-11-19T05:00:00.0000000Z.
Confirmed: both stores agree on the release moment to the second. 05:00 UTC is midnight Eastern on 19 November 2026. The Xbox preorder price offer expires at 04:59:59 UTC that day.
Confirmed: no content descriptors and no In-Game Purchases interactive element appear on either store, despite the Ultimate edition bundling a GTA+ subscription.
Confirmed: platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X. No PC listing exists on either store.
Confirmed, and a warning about method: Rockstar's own store page contains 8 occurrences of "Steam", 2 of "Epic" and 2 of "Windows", every one a generic internationalisation dictionary entry for GTA+ subscription management in a dictionary that also contains "Stadia". A literal keyword search would have produced a false PC story.
Confirmed: the Xbox description states that Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience, 13 languages are supported as listed above, and pricing is $79.99 standard and $99.99 ultimate on both stores.
Not obtained: the ESRB's own database. Its search endpoint accepted our query but ignored the keyword, returning identical unrelated results regardless of search type with a total pinned at 34,123.
Not obtained: the Australian Classification Board, which returned HTTP 503, then protocol errors, then timed out, and PEGI, which timed out twice. We hold no primary ratings-board verification from any board.
Explicitly not claimed: that GTA 6 has no ESRB certificate. We assert only what the two storefronts publish, which is that neither is showing one as of 25 August 2026.
Context, not alarm: Rating Pending is normal for months before release and studios routinely submit late. The only notable part is the profile of a game this size sitting 86 days out.
We check both storefront listings weekly and will report the moment a final rating and its descriptors appear, on our news page. If you are already planning where you will play once 19 November arrives, our servers list is the place to start.
