Rockstar Named the GTA 6 Album. We Marked Our Own Homework

The editor re-fetched the spine of this story personally rather than take it on a researcher's word: rockstargames.com/VI/music answered HTTP 200 at 539,411 bytes at 2026-09-18T03:14:02Z, with The Album 14, Album 52, November 19 3, vinyl 10, PC 0 and Atlantic 0 in the raw HTML, and 1,508 characters of visible text. Six singles are listed in page order, which is not a track number, because the page gives none. Batch 47 said on 16 September that a wordless square posted by nine accounts was a supplied kit, and refused to claim either Rockstar coordination or radio spots. Rockstar now carries a lead credit for six of those nine acts and the other three inside the same credit lines, so the supplied-kit reading holds. The radio claim does not: an album is not a station tracklist and Rockstar's own Newswire treats in-game radio as still to come. Atlantic is attributed to the label's own YouTube channel, the storefront footer and a Warner-range barcode, never to a Rockstar page that contains the string zero times. No silence duration is printed anywhere, because the Newswire index is a 4,133 byte JavaScript shell that nobody here can enumerate.

On 17 September 2026 Rockstar Games stood up a page at rockstargames.com/VI/music, gave the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack a name, a date and a track count, and put six songs out the same morning. This desk published a piece about that campaign two days before Rockstar said a word, and the right thing to do now is mark our own homework in public. One half of what we wrote on 16 September has been borne out by Rockstar's own page. The other half, the part we specifically refused to claim, is still not confirmed, and we are not going to quietly bank it as a win. What did Rockstar actually put on its music page? CONFIRMED, and read directly by this desk's editor rather than taken on a researcher's word. The page at rockstargames.com/VI/music answered HTTP 200 at 539,411 bytes at 2026-09-18T03:14:02Z with a desktop browser user agent, after following redirects. A researcher had fetched the identical byte count at 2026-09-18T03:00:46Z fourteen minutes earlier. String counts in the raw HTML of that capture: The Album 14 Album 52 November 19 3 vinyl 10 case sensitive, and 20 across both cases on a researcher's separate count Atlantic 0 Original Soundtrack 0 PC 0, against a live control of November 19 at 3 on the same document, so the page is fully rendered and that zero is a real absence Total visible text on the page runs to 1,508 characters. The substantive part of it, verbatim, with Rockstar's curly apostrophes converted to straight ones to house style: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Coming November 19. Listen to six singles from the upcoming 34-track official soundtrack album, now available for pre-save and pre-order. Pre-Save Digital Album. Pre-Order Vinyl or CD. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. With 34 original tracks that capture the electric energy of Grand Theft Auto VI's world of Vice City and Leonida, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album features a genre-defying roster of the most exciting artists in the world. Singles. Listen to six debut singles now that showcase Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Shop New Limited Edition Vinyl. Various Artists. New Vinyl. Various Artists. Two wording points are worth holding on to, because they are the sort of thing coverage smooths over. The product name is Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, not a soundtrack edition of the game's title. And Rockstar's own phrase is "official soundtrack album". The phrase "Original Soundtrack" appears nowhere on the page. Rockstar's key art for the game itself. The album carries its own artwork, which this desk has not reproduced. Who is on the six singles Rockstar has released? CONFIRMED, from the editor's own capture. Rockstar lists six singles with artist credits. This is the order they appear on the page. It is not a track number, and the page gives no track numbers at all. Anyone presenting the table below as album sequencing is inventing something Rockstar did not publish. Position on pageTitleCredited artists, as Rockstar prints them 1That's ItYung Lean, feat. Rockstar also writes Pink Pantheress as two words on its own page, where Apple Music writes it as one. That is a real discrepancy between two live surfaces and it is the sort of thing that propagates into a hundred secondary write-ups without anyone checking which is which. Did this desk get the nine-artist story right on 15 September? CONFIRMED in part, and this is the part we got right. On 16 September we published a piece on nine musicians posting the same Grand Theft Auto VI artwork inside a few hours of each other on 15 September. Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso, Yung Lean, PinkPantheress and Keith Richards. The claim that piece made, and the only claim it made, was that a wordless square image appearing across nine accounts inside a short window is a supplied kit. The forensic basis was one post resolved by identifier: an empty text field, a single attached photo at exactly 1440 by 1440, and a timestamp 75 minutes ahead of the first aggregator pickup, against aggregator images at ragged screenshot dimensions. Rockstar's own album page now carries a lead credit for six of those nine acts: Yung Lean, Travis Scott, CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards. The remaining three of the nine, Future, Metro Boomin and Pink Pantheress, appear inside those same credit lines as featured and co-credited artists. Two days after nine accounts posted the same square, the company whose game it advertises published a page that accounts for all nine of them. So the supplied-kit reading holds. A kit was supplied, the artists on it are on the record, and the record is real. Is the GTA 6 radio station line-up confirmed? UNVERIFIED, and that is the whole point of this section. On 16 September this desk refused to say that the nine posts confirmed radio spots, and refused to say Rockstar had coordinated the posts, because no artist had said radio and no outlet had produced a Rockstar statement. Two days on, neither of those things has changed, and an album announcement does not change them. An album is not a radio station tracklist. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is a commercial record with 34 original tracks, sold on vinyl, CD and digital. What plays on an in-game station is a separate editorial and licensing question, and Rockstar has published nothing about it. Rockstar's own Newswire copy is the strongest evidence that these are two different things. The post promises more to come on, in its own words, "the dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio, and more". A company that treats in-game radio as a future announcement has not just made it. We also still cannot say Rockstar coordinated the 15 September posts. The album page proves the artists are on a Rockstar-linked product. It does not establish who supplied the square, under what terms, or whether Rockstar cleared it. That gap is narrower than it was on 16 September. It is not closed. What time did the album actually go live? CONFIRMED as an ordering, from three independent clocks. Nobody published the actual sequence of the drop, so a researcher reconstructed it from machine-readable timestamps rather than from any press release. The storefront, not the announcement, was the first public artefact of the campaign. The limit on that, stated plainly. ReturnYouTubeDislike's dateCreated is the moment that service first indexed a video, which is an upper bound on the upload time and not the upload time. Shopify's published_at is when a product record became publicly visible in the feed, which is normally but not necessarily the moment the page became reachable. The ordering is robust because the three clocks are independent and the gaps are minutes wide. The individual seconds are not gospel, and nobody here watched any of this happen live. All of it was read back roughly fifteen hours later. Rockstar's own X post, verbatim: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album Coming November 19. Featuring 34 original tracks that capture the electric energy of Vice City and Leonida, from a genre-defying artist roster. Listen to the first six singles today, and pre-order on vinyl and CD at https://gtavi-thealbum.com. Which company is putting out Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album? CONFIRMED, and sourced very carefully, because this is where the coverage has been loose. The album is operated by Atlantic Records, which is part of Warner Music. Three artefacts establish it, and none of them is Rockstar's music page: All six official single uploads sit on the Atlantic Records YouTube channel. Six oEmbed calls, all HTTP 200, read between 2026-09-18T03:08:22Z and 03:08:55Z, return "author_name":"Atlantic Records" and "author_url":"https://www.youtube.com/@atlanticrecords". Not the Rockstar Games channel. The official album storefront's footer reads, verbatim: (C) 2026 Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Corp. Read at HTTP 200, 362,283 bytes, 2026-09-18T03:05:06Z. The copyright symbol is transcribed here as (C). The Limited-Edition Vinyl product record carries GTIN 0075678576386 and sku 075678576386, read from the product page at HTTP 200, 395,550 bytes, 2026-09-18T03:05:51Z. The 075678 prefix is the Warner Music barcode range. The music page itself contains the string Atlantic zero times. If you see a piece that attributes the label to Rockstar's own music page, that piece has not counted. The one Rockstar surface that does carry the label is the Newswire post's meta description, which reads, verbatim and truncated by Rockstar's own content management system at exactly that point: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the upcoming official soundtrack album created in partnership with Atlantic Records and launching November 19 alongside Grand Theft Auto VI, is available to pre-save on all major music streaming services, with... That shell answered HTTP 200 at 7,520 bytes, read by two researchers at 2026-09-18T03:00:02Z and 03:07:51Z. Nobody on this desk has read the body of that Newswire post. It renders client side and did not come down in the HTML, so what is quoted above is a meta tag and not the article. Requests with a search engine user agent returned HTTP 403 at 514 bytes. One further caveat carried from the researcher who found the barcode: the 075678 prefix is well known as a Warner range but was not checked against a GS1 registry, so that specific inference is weaker than the channel and the footer. How many people watched the six singles, and did interest move? CONFIRMED as a snapshot. All six official uploads were read inside a 33 second window at 2026-09-18T03:08:22Z to 03:08:55Z, roughly fifteen hours after the drop. This desk's own arithmetic: the six totalled 1,740,946 views. The single most-headlined name in the wire coverage, Keith Richards, finished last of six on views at 184,149 and last on like rate at 3.77 per cent. Rockstar's own single X post drew 9,401,881 views by 03:10:55Z, which is roughly 5.4 times the combined views of all six music videos, and that multiple is this desk's arithmetic too. CONFIRMED, one measurement with its baseline attached. Daily human pageviews of the English Wikipedia article for the game, from the Wikimedia API at 2026-09-18T03:02:20Z, fell to 10,812 on 16 September, the lowest figure since 27 August, then rose to 13,706 on 17 September, a rise of 26.8 per cent. That is a real move and a small one: 17 September was still 51 per cent below 1 September, when the article drew 27,833. There is no 18 September figure yet, because Wikimedia publishes a day's views after that day closes in UTC, so nobody can tell you how the second day went. What could not be checked, and is therefore not claimed How long Rockstar had been quiet before this is not established anywhere in this article, and here is exactly why. rockstargames.com/newswire answers HTTP 200 at 4,133 bytes with an empty body. It is a JavaScript shell, not a post listing. Researcher A recorded that byte count at 2026-09-18T02:59:14Z and the editor recorded the same figure independently at 03:14:02Z. Every listing, feed and API route tried returned 404: /newswire/rss, /newswire/feed, /newswire.json, /newswire/api/posts, /newswire/api/search and /newswire/tags/grand-theft-auto-vi. Nobody on this desk can enumerate Rockstar's Newswire posts, so no silence duration is printed here. Separately, rockstargames.com/robots.txt answers HTTP 200 at 311 bytes and disallows ia_archiver, which means there is no Internet Archive record with which to settle when any Rockstar page first appeared. This desk has written about that gap before and corrected itself on it once already. Today we simply say what was checked. What this does not prove Not established: the full 34-track listing. Twenty-eight titles are withheld and no surface this desk reached publishes them. Do not trust a list that claims otherwise. Not established: that any of these tracks appears in the game. Rockstar's wording is "official soundtrack album", not in-game radio, and Rockstar's own Newswire treats radio as still to come. Not established: that Rockstar coordinated the 15 September artist posts. A supplied kit means somebody supplied assets. It does not name who. Not established: how long Rockstar had been silent on this game before 17 September. The Newswire index is a 4,133 byte shell and cannot be enumerated from here. Not read: the body of the Newswire announcement. Meta tags and Rockstar's own promo copy only. A search engine user agent returned 403 at 514 bytes. Not read: the video linked from the music page, which returned HTTP 302 at 403 bytes at 03:04:44Z, so no claim is made about its title, length or view count. Explicitly not claimed: that the music page did not exist before 17 September. It is new to this desk's crawl and it is promoted by a dated Newswire post, which is strong. But with ia_archiver disallowed and no last-modified header served, "published alongside the 17 September announcement" is as far as the evidence goes. Our earlier piece on this campaign is here, the running record of what is actually sourced about the game's music is at the soundtrack explainer, and the one previous occasion on which a Grand Theft Auto song's numbers were traced properly is here. The release date position has not moved and sits at our standing piece on 19 November. The rest of today's reporting is on the news desk, the wider record is on the GTA 6 wiki, and for the 62 days between now and release the servers list and the leaderboards are open. That 62 day count is this desk's own arithmetic from today's date to 19 November 2026.
