Eighty Days Out, GTA 6 Has No Final Age Rating Anywhere on Earth

Grand Theft Auto VI is 80 days from release and has no final age rating in any territory on Earth. PEGI's public database has never heard of it. Microsoft's catalogue carries pending or provisional flags for six different boards at once. Sony's own FAQ says in writing that the ratings are unconfirmed. Before the detail, the context that stops this being alarming. Late ratings are entirely normal for a November release. The ESRB in particular often lands its final classification six to ten weeks out, which for a 19 November date would be mid-September to early October. Nothing below is evidence that anything has gone wrong. This is a clock story rather than a problem story, and we are writing it because the clock is now visible in five separate databases at once. Is GTA 6 rated M yet? No board has published a final rating for it. What exists is a set of placeholders. CONFIRMED, self-fetched. We queried PEGI's own public search at pegi.info/search-pegi for Grand Theft Auto VI. It returned HTTP 200 at 221,641 bytes at 2026-08-31T03:06:35Z, and the rendered result reads, verbatim: Search results Found 0 results from your query [...] No results found. The title of the game you were searching for cannot be found in this database. This may mean it was not classified by PEGI... CONFIRMED, and this is the control that makes the zero meaningful. The same endpoint, same session, queried for Grand Theft Auto V, returned HTTP 200 at 253,946 bytes at 03:06:54Z and reads: "Found 6 results from your query. Grand Theft Auto V, Take2 Interactive Software Europe ltd, Xbox Series X|S 15/03/2022, PlayStation 5 15/03/2022 [...] This game has received a PEGI 18..." Six results for the predecessor, nineteen seconds apart, from the same query shape. The search works. The zero for Grand Theft Auto VI is a real absence rather than a broken query. What do the ratings boards actually say about GTA 6? The P on PEGI:18P is not documented by Microsoft. Reading it as a provisional marker is an inference drawn from the control, where Grand Theft Auto V carries a bare PEGI:18 with no suffix, and reinforced by PEGI's own database returning nothing. It is a strong inference and it is still an inference. The accurate sentence is that Grand Theft Auto VI is flagged provisional in Microsoft's catalogue and absent from PEGI's own database. Sony is displaying a placeholder and telling readers in prose that it is a placeholder. Why has GTA 6 not been rated yet? We do not know, and neither does anyone else outside the boards and the publisher. What we can tell you is that the pattern is ordinary. A rating is issued against a submission, submissions are made when a build is stable enough to describe accurately, and a publisher with a November date has no reason to submit in August.
