Should You Migrate to FiveM Enhanced? Cfx.re Says Wait

FiveM for GTAV Enhanced entered early access on July 21, 2026 without Asset Escrow, and Cfx.re says most production servers will want to wait. Here is what is confirmed about Pure Mode, the breaking changes, Alchemist and the two-instance problem, and what still has no timeline.

FiveM for GTAV Enhanced entered early access on July 21, 2026, and most of the coverage that followed read as a celebration. The more useful detail sits in Cfx.re's own posts, where the platform holder tells production servers to hold off. If you run a server and you are weighing a move, the clearest answer available right now comes from Cfx.re rather than from anyone else. What actually launched on July 21 The announcement post, titled "FiveM for GTAV Enhanced is Available Now in Early Access" and published to Cfx.re Announcements on July 21, 2026, describes the release in plain terms. Cfx.re calls it "an early access version of the framework that will contain bugs and missing features." That is the platform's own framing. Enhanced runs as a separate client alongside FiveM Legacy, with its own server binaries branded "Cfx Server". Cfx.re also shipped a companion utility called Alchemist, described in the official Enhanced onboarding guide as "a tool to convert existing assets to work with FiveM for GTAV Enhanced." The new installer lets operators put cached server files on a separate folder or drive, and clients now automatically purge cached files that a server no longer serves. The Asset Escrow gap, in Cfx.re's own words Asset Escrow is the system that lets creators distribute paid or protected resources without shipping readable source files. On Enhanced it does not exist yet. The official Legacy versus Enhanced documentation lists its status as "Not implemented yet." In Development Update #2, posted to Cfx.re Announcements on July 1, 2026, Cfx.re said Asset Escrow "will arrive in a post-launch update" and then went further. The same post states that "most production servers will want to wait for this feature before moving to GTAV Enhanced." A platform telling its own operators to wait is about as direct a signal as this ecosystem produces. Cfx.re has published no date, quarter or window for escrow on Enhanced. Anyone quoting one is guessing. Why graphics mods do not pass on Enhanced right now Per the official Legacy versus Enhanced documentation, Pure Mode is always enabled on Enhanced and cannot be disabled. On Legacy it was a per-server opt-in that owners could simply leave switched off. The practical consequence is narrow and severe. Only unmodified game files clear validation. Graphical enhancement mods, custom radio stations, texture replacements and model swaps do not pass file validation on Enhanced during early access. If a community's identity rests on a graphics preset or a custom station, that part of it does not travel today. One caution, because this question is circulating fast: Cfx.re has not said whether always-on Pure Mode is permanent policy or a limitation of early access. It has said neither. Read it as the current state, not as a settled decision. One server instance cannot serve both Legacy and Enhanced cannot share a server instance. Supporting both audiences means running two instances, with separate builds and separate resource sets. Development Update #2 described unified server listings as a long-term plan rather than a launch feature, so for now the two player populations also browse separately. For a large roleplay community that is a staffing question before it is a technical one. Two instances means two deployment pipelines, two sets of resource updates and two moderation surfaces. The breaking changes to plan around The official documentation and Development Update #2 list a set of changes that operators cannot skip past. Per those sources: Key-Value DB files "must be migrated". Mono has been replaced by a .NET 10 runtime. OneSync non-big mode has been removed. Mumble voice is deprecated. ARQ has been removed. The server ImGui GUI has been removed. Peer to peer synchronization has been removed entirely and replaced with a client-server model. Development Update #2 also confirmed that the connection handshake has moved from UDP to WebSocket, and noted that "existing server protections will require adjustment". In practice that means DDoS mitigation rules written against UDP connection patterns need reworking before an Enhanced instance faces the public. What Development Update #3 added Development Update #3, posted July 20, 2026, covers the tooling side. Developer mode now requires a server-side opt-in through the sv_devmode convar and is capped at 8 players. A new configurable convar, sv_syncTickRate, accepts a range of 1 to 120. On performance, Cfx.re reports that state bag set operations are "10x faster on average", with only replicated values transmitting. The metrics endpoint now exposes "over 80 individual metrics", up from three, and Profetto replaces the legacy profiler. Confirmed, reported and unconfirmed Confirmed (Cfx.re official posts and documentation): Early access began July 21, 2026 and is described by Cfx.re as containing bugs and missing features. Asset Escrow status is "Not implemented yet." Pure Mode is always on and cannot be disabled. Legacy and Enhanced cannot share a server instance. The handshake moved from UDP to WebSocket. Alchemist exists as an asset conversion tool. Development Update #3 shipped sv_devmode, sv_syncTickRate and the expanded metrics endpoint. Stated intent, no timeline (Development Update #2, July 1, 2026): Asset Escrow "will arrive in a post-launch update", and "most production servers will want to wait for this feature". Unified server listings are a long-term plan. Not confirmed by Cfx.re: Any date or quarter for Asset Escrow on Enhanced. Whether Legacy will ever be sunset. Whether escrow assets will need re-encryption or re-purchase. Whether unified server listing arrives before GTA 6 launches. Whether the Pure Mode restriction on mods is permanent policy or an early-access limitation. Alchemist's success rate on escrow-protected assets, streamed map content or custom vehicle handling, since Cfx.re has published no completeness guarantees. The honest read for a production server is to test Enhanced on a spare instance, log what Alchemist converts cleanly, and wait for escrow before moving paying communities across. We will update this page when Cfx.re gives escrow a date. In the meantime, follow the migration story on our news hub and see which communities are already experimenting on our servers list.
