RedM is Cfx.re's Red Dead Redemption 2 sibling platform to FiveM, part of Rockstar's 2023 acquisition and covered by the Cfx Marketplace.

RedM is Cfx.re's multiplayer modification platform for Red Dead Redemption 2, the sibling of FiveM. Same team, same model: community-run servers hosting custom game modes, scripts and roleplay worlds, set on the western frontier instead of a modern city.

Part of the Rockstar fold

RedM came under Rockstar ownership with the August 2023 acquisition of Cfx.re, and it sits inside the same official ecosystem as FiveM. The Cfx Marketplace covers its creators too: Rockstar's own Creator Platform job listings describe "a curated digital storefront, the Cfx Marketplace, where talented GTAV and RDR2 creators can share and sell custom scripts, assets, and more." The hosting bundles Cfx.re announced with its official server providers in July 2026 likewise cover both FiveM and RedM.

What RedM communities build

RedM servers range from historical frontier roleplay to things Rockstar never imagined. Cfx.re's July 2026 Community Spotlight featured Ebonridge, described as "a supernatural-themed RedM roleplay server set in a dark and mysterious frontier," a good example of how far communities push past vanilla Red Dead.

Why it matters for GTA 6

RedM is proof the Cfx server model spans multiple Rockstar games rather than being a GTA 5 one-off. That pattern, one team, one storefront, multiple titles, is exactly what GTA 6 roleplay hopefuls point to when they argue an official GTA 6 platform will eventually follow. To be clear, that is inference: nothing about GTA 6 has been announced for RedM, FiveM or any Cfx product, and the current status is tracked on the multiplayer status page.
