GTA 6 Metacritic Ladder Quotes an Impossible Pair

This desk's editor fetched https://api.elections.kalshi.com/trade-api/v2/markets?event_ticker=KXMC-GTA6&limit=50 and received HTTP 200 at 23,614 bytes at 2026-09-30T03:15:09Z. CONFIRMED by that fetch: 13 strikes, all closing 2026-11-26T15:00:00Z, printed in the copy as a full table with last, previous, bid, ask, total volume, 24 hour volume and open interest, including Above 70 at 0.8200 last on total volume 67.42, Above 75 at 0.8200 last on total volume 5.00 and open interest 5.00, Above 80 at 0.9700 last against a previous of 0.8400 on 24 hour volume 236.00, Above 85 at 0.9700 against a previous of 0.9000 on 24 hour volume 206.00, Above 90 at 0.9000 and Above 95 at 0.7400 against a previous of 0.7000 on 24 hour volume 80.59 with a bid of 0.7500; the bids at Above 70 and Above 75 both 0.9600 against 0.9700 at Above 80, which do not invert; Kalshi's rule text verbatim, that if the Metascore for Grand Theft Auto VI is Above 95 seven days after release at 10:00AM ET then the market resolves to Yes; and Kalshi's own disclaimer verbatim, that this market and these products have not been endorsed by metacritic, with the lower case company name as printed. This desk's own arithmetic: only 3 of 13 strikes traded in the last 24 hours, the 26 November close is 7 days after the 19 November release and matches the rule text, and 30 September to 19 November is 50 days. CORRECTION printed in the copy: a researcher filed Above 95 with a bid of 0.76 and the editor reads 0.75, so the editor's figure governs. LIMITS printed in full: the inversion is an artefact of stale last trades on strikes that barely trade, expressly not a signal and expressly not an exploitable mispricing, because the ask on Above 75 is 0.97 and the strike's whole lifetime volume is five contracts; nothing on the ladder comes from Rockstar or from Metacritic and no score exists; settlement assumes a Metascore exists by 26 November; volumes are contract counts and not dollars; and the ladder was read at one instant. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot by name and this desk's fetches use a standard desktop browser user agent.
Kalshi's Metacritic ladder for Grand Theft Auto VI is quoting a pair of prices that cannot both be right. "Above 75" last traded at 0.82. "Above 80" last traded at 0.97. Every Metascore above 80 is also above 75, so the weaker claim cannot be worth fifteen cents less than the stronger one. The explanation sits in the volume column rather than in anybody's opinion, and it is boring: Above 75 has traded 5.00 contracts in its entire life.
CONFIRMED. This desk's editor fetched https://api.elections.kalshi.com/trade-api/v2/markets?event_ticker=KXMC-GTA6&limit=50 and received HTTP 200 at 23,614 bytes at 2026-09-30T03:15:09Z. Thirteen strikes came back, all closing at 2026-11-26T15:00:00Z. The whole ladder is printed below because the argument depends on the columns next to the prices.

Above 950.74000.70000.75000.80005,538.2480.593,784.25
Why the pair is impossible, and why it does not matter
Take the logic first. A Metascore above 80 is necessarily also above 75. The event "score above 80" is contained inside the event "score above 75", so the probability of the wider event can never be lower than the probability of the narrower one. A last price of 0.82 on Above 75 sitting under a last price of 0.97 on Above 80 is therefore a pair that cannot describe two probabilities at the same moment. The same problem appears one rung lower, with Above 70 also at 0.82.
Now take the volume column, which dissolves it. Above 75 has traded 5.00 contracts since the strike was created, and its open interest is also 5.00. Above 70 has traded 67.42 in total. Neither has traded in the last 24 hours. Their "last" prices are not current opinions. They are the price of whatever tiny trade happened to be the most recent one, frozen wherever it stopped. Above 80 and Above 85 both traded inside the last 24 hours, 236.00 and 206.00 contracts respectively, and both repriced upward when they did: Above 80 from a previous 0.8400 to 0.9700 and Above 85 from 0.9000 to 0.9700.
The bids do not invert. This is the decisive check. Bid is 0.96 at Above 70 and 0.96 at Above 75, against 0.97 at Above 80. That ordering is within a cent and entirely sane. The live side of the book, the side where someone is actually offering to buy right now, does not contain the contradiction at all. Only the historical print column does.
Read this as an artefact, not a signal
Two things follow and both are worth stating flatly. This is not a signal. Nobody on the ladder is expressing a view that Grand Theft Auto VI is more likely to score above 80 than above 75. That view does not exist and the quotes prove it does not, because the bids are ordered correctly.
This is also not an exploitable mispricing. A reader looking at a 0.82 last print and a 0.97 last print might see free money in buying the cheap one. There is nothing to buy at 0.82. The ask on Above 75 is 0.97, the bid is 0.96, and the entire lifetime volume of the strike is five contracts. The 0.82 is a museum piece. It is not a price anyone can trade at, and this desk is not suggesting anybody try.
The honest summary is that a "Last" column on a ladder of thin strikes is a record of the past, not a quote. Ten of the thirteen strikes above turned zero contracts in 24 hours. Only 3 of 13 traded at all, Above 80, Above 85 and Above 95, and those three are the only rows on the ladder whose last price describes anything current.
Kalshi's own words
The rule text on the top strike, verbatim as served:
"If the Metascore for Grand Theft Auto VI is Above 95 seven days after release at 10:00AM ET, then the market resolves to Yes."
And Kalshi's own disclaimer, verbatim, with the lower case company name exactly as printed:
"This market and these products have not been endorsed by metacritic. Any references to metacritic, or any associated marks are descriptive only and do not indicate an endorsement of this product or any affiliation between metacritic and Kalshi."
All 13 strikes close at 2026-11-26T15:00:00Z. 26 November is 7 days after the 19 November release date, which matches the rule text, and that interval is this desk's own arithmetic. 30 September to 19 November is 50 days, also this desk's own arithmetic.
A correction to this desk's own research
A researcher on this desk filed the Above 95 strike with a bid of 0.76. The editor's own fetch at 2026-09-30T03:15:09Z reads 0.75. The editor's figure governs, the table above prints 0.75, and the correction is recorded here rather than absorbed silently.
For the rest of the verified pre-launch record, see the news index, and for the community side, the server list.
Limits, stated plainly
Nothing on this ladder comes from Rockstar or from Metacritic. Neither has published a score, a review embargo date or any comment on this market. Kalshi's own disclaimer, quoted above, says the market is not endorsed by metacritic.
Grand Theft Auto VI has not been reviewed. There is no Metascore. Every price above is a guess about a number that does not exist yet.
Settlement assumes a Metascore exists by 26 November. If no score is published by then, what happens is a question for Kalshi's rules and not something this desk can answer.
The inversion is an artefact and this desk says so twice. It is not a signal and it is not an exploitable mispricing. The bids are ordered correctly and there is no size behind the stale prints.
Volumes are contract counts, not dollars. None of the figures above is a money amount.
One fetch, one instant. Everything above describes the ladder as served at 2026-09-30T03:15:09Z. Three of these strikes trade, so at least three rows can be different by the time anyone reads this.
Retrieval method, disclosed. rockstargames.com/robots.txt disallows a named list of automated agents, ClaudeBot among them. Kalshi's API is not a Rockstar property, but this desk's fetches all use a standard desktop browser user agent against a specific public URL, and that is disclosed in every batch.
