Your Free GTA+ Month Is a GTA Online Membership

If you pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto VI digitally, you were given a free month of GTA+. A lot of people have read that as a free month of something attached to the new game. The documentation says otherwise, and because the wording sits in one place and is easy to check, we would rather you read it now than in November. We went through the PlayStation Store GTA+ product page on August 5, 2026, and our editor re-fetched it independently. Six operative strings appear on that one page. We are quoting them verbatim. The product is described as follows: "GTA+ is the premium monthly Membership for GTA Online players on PlayStation®5". The requirement is stated on the same page: "Access to Grand Theft Auto Online for PS5™ is required to receive the GTA Online benefits." The pre-order offer is on the same page too: "Pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI and get one month of GTA+ on PlayStation 5 at no extra cost." Why that matters in November CONFIRMED: the Rockstar and Take-Two press release of June 24, 2026 describes GTA 6 as "a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." No GTA 6 Online has been announced. No PC version has been announced. GTA 6 arrives on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Put the two things side by side. GTA+ is sold as a membership for GTA Online players and requires GTA Online access to deliver its benefits. GTA 6 ships as a single-player game with no online mode announced. A free month redeemed on November 19 would therefore be a free month of benefits for a different game, the one you were already playing. Leonida arrives on November 19 as a single-player game. What GTA+ will mean there has not been stated by anyone at Rockstar. What the membership actually gets you We also read Rockstar's own GTA+ support hub on August 5, 2026. It was reachable and its listed article titles include "GTA+ Monthly GTA$500,000 bonus in Grand Theft Auto Online" and "Support for GTA+ Membership". The hub makes no mention of Grand Theft Auto VI or GTA 6 anywhere. It also carries no pricing or auto-renewal text of its own, which is why the commercial terms in this article come from the storefront rather than from Rockstar's support pages. REPORTED: the commonly listed GTA+ benefits are a monthly GTA$500,000, access to the Vinewood Club member area, member-only Shark Cards carrying bonus GTA$, rotating monthly vehicles, and a back catalogue of Rockstar titles. Every one of those is a GTA Online or GTA 5 era benefit. None of them has been described by Rockstar as applying to GTA 6. The price, and the part people forget The storefront lists the price as "$7.99" and states that the "Subscription continues until canceled". It also sets out the exit: "You can cancel your subscription at any time so that your subscription will expire at the end of the then-current billing period." That is a normal rolling subscription, and there is nothing underhand about it. The failure mode is simply inattention. Redeem the free month, forget it exists, and thirty days later $7.99 starts leaving your account every month for a membership you are not using. Cancellation happens where the subscription lives, in the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store rather than inside the game. On PlayStation that is account subscription management on the console or on the web. On Xbox it is the services and subscriptions area of your Microsoft account. Cancelling does not end the month you have already been given, because the subscription expires at the end of the then-current billing period. The redemption deadlines, and why we are flagging them There are deadlines on the free month, and they differ by platform. Rockstar's support site did not respond to us on August 5, 2026, so we could not re-verify them today. What follows is previously published Rockstar support wording, carried here as prior documentation rather than as a fresh check: The free GTA+ month goes to buyers of the digital version of GTA 6 purchased before November 20. PlayStation buyers must redeem by March 31, 2027. That is a fixed calendar date, the same for everyone. Microsoft buyers must redeem within 180 days of purchase. That is a rolling clock, so every Xbox buyer has a personal deadline and there is no single Xbox date to print. If you are on Xbox, work out your own 180 days from your own purchase date. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, so the very earliest Xbox pre-orderers are already well into their window. The honest version of the question We are not going to overstate this. Rockstar has not said what GTA+ will mean for GTA 6. It has also not said that GTA+ will never apply to GTA 6. Both of those are true at the same time, and anyone telling you confidently in either direction is filling a gap that Rockstar has left open. What is documented today is narrower and firmer. GTA+ is sold as a membership for GTA Online players. Its benefits require GTA Online access. GTA 6 is described by its publisher as a single-player experience with no online component announced. That is the whole of the evidence, and it is enough to make a decision with. What we would actually do Redeem the month when you actually want to play GTA Online rather than when GTA 6 arrives. If you have been meaning to get back into Los Santos, the current Summer Heist Event week is a sensible place to spend it, since the monthly GTA$500,000 lands on top of whatever else you earn. Set a calendar reminder for the day before the free month ends. Cancel on that day if you do not want the $7.99 to continue. The month you have already been given still runs to its end, so cancelling early costs you nothing. Do not redeem it in November on the assumption that it does something for GTA 6. If Rockstar announces later that GTA+ carries some GTA 6 benefit, you can subscribe then. One footnote from the same afternoon of checking. We looked at the PlayStation Store GTA 6 page on August 5, 2026. It shows ESRB_RP17, meaning "ESRB Rating Pending Mature 17+", and it publishes no install size at all. Every storage figure you have seen quoted for GTA 6 is somebody's estimate, so we are not printing one. Explicitly not claimed: that GTA+ will never apply to GTA 6. Rockstar has said nothing either way, and we are not filling that silence. Mandatory hedge, stated as such: cancellation is handled in the PlayStation or Microsoft store rather than in game, and the exact menu path can change without notice on either platform. None of this makes the free month worthless. It makes it a free month of a specific thing, with a price attached at the end of it and a deadline attached to the front. Use it deliberately.
