Is There a GTA 6 Collector's Edition With a Disc?
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news8 min read
The origin relay carried 590,890 views and six separate hedges in four sentences, and three outlets published inside four hours with those hedges substantially intact. Two narrow failures remain instructive: one headline hardened the source's phrase "a circular piece where a disc could fit" into a claim about a disc slot, and the source's own walk-back reached exactly one outlet while the disc detail reached all of them. Set against that is Rockstar's own storefront, which states that physical versions contain a download code only, that pre-load begins 12 November, and that thirteen languages are supported, at $79.99 standard and $99.99 Ultimate.
People are searching for a Grand Theft Auto VI collector's edition with a disc in the box. The answer, as of this morning, is that the claim is UNVERIFIED, and the one detail that made it travel is the detail the source himself has since backed away from.
Here is what the claim rests on, and here is what is actually documented on Rockstar's own storefront.
What the claim is
The origin relay, verbatim and complete. A public GTA fan-aggregator account on X posted at 2026-09-09T18:20:01.000Z. The syndication payload was retrieved at 2026-09-10T03:06:52Z, HTTP 200, 3,472 bytes, and corroborated against a second API at 2026-09-10T03:06:53Z, HTTP 200, 3,675 bytes. The account carries 122,338 followers. The metrics on the payload at that moment: 590,890 views, 3,235 likes, 144 retweets, 107 replies.
"UNCONFIRMED: a supposed collector editon box for GTA 6 may just have been leaked. The source is a supposed employee for Unique Services Group located in Mexico. He stated that the box might include a disc because he has seen "a circular piece where a disc could fit". He also stated that the box is larger than the PS5's box."
Count the hedges the aggregator put in: UNCONFIRMED, supposed box, may just have been, supposed employee, might include, could fit. Six in four sentences. By the standards of this beat that is exemplary, and it deserves saying before anything critical.
Underneath the hedges, the structure of the claim is thin in a specific way. It is one anonymous account on X relaying one anonymous person who says he is a short-term packaging worker at a Mexican printing firm. There is no second source anywhere in the chain. Nobody has authenticated the images. Rockstar has said nothing.
What the source actually described, and what one headline turned it into
Three outlets published within four hours, and their hedges mostly held.

Beebom's body is careful. It writes "A possible USG Mexico worker" and "The supposed employee". The headline hardens exactly one thing, and it is the important thing: the source said he saw "a circular piece where a disc could fit", and the headline says the box "Allegedly Leaks With a Disc Slot". A circular impression that somebody thinks could hold a disc is not a disc slot. Beebom also publishes the claimed worker's own account handle, which this desk is not reproducing.
Notebookcheck has the detail nobody else carried, verbatim:
They later downplayed that possibility but insist that the photos are authentic. Fearing legal action from Take-Two or Rockstar, the leaked images have now been deleted.
So the source walked back the disc claim, the single most viral element of the whole story, and that walk-back reached exactly one outlet while the disc detail reached all of them. That asymmetry is the most useful thing in this entire episode.
GTA BOOM is the most rigorous of the three, verbatim:
It is also not verifiable. The poster has since deleted the photos, no outlet with real sources has authenticated them, and Rockstar Games has said nothing. Observers have already pointed out that the box could just as easily be a press kit, an influencer package, a mock-up, or completely unrelated packaging.
None of those four innocent explanations has been excluded by anybody.
One note on the deletions. Two Reddit posts and Notebookcheck all state that the images or the tweet were deleted. The aggregator's relay was still live and fully retrievable at 2026-09-10T03:06:52Z, HTTP 200. The community pickup ran on the same evening: a post on r/GTA6 at 2026-09-09T18:07:25Z, thirteen minutes before the aggregator's relay, meaning the images reached Reddit from the original poster and not from the aggregator, and a post on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours at 2026-09-09T18:40:49Z whose body reads verbatim: "OP deleted tweet to 'avoid legal trouble' (Said in a separate tweet that the box is bigger than a PS5 box meaning it's massive)". Both were recovered from subreddit RSS feeds fetched at 2026-09-10T02:59:49Z, HTTP 200, 47,764 bytes, and 2026-09-10T03:00:23Z, HTTP 200, 41,092 bytes, after an earlier attempt on the second feed returned HTTP 429 and 0 bytes.
The bonus content in the announced editions is itemised on Rockstar's own storefront, vehicle by vehicle. A collector's edition is not among the listings. Official Rockstar Grand Theft Auto VI screenshot.
What Rockstar's own storefront says, which is checkable by anybody
CONFIRMED. The Rockstar Store product page for Grand Theft Auto VI was fetched at 2026-09-10T03:00:12Z, HTTP 200, 971,702 bytes. Verbatim from the page:
COMING SOON / Order before November 20 to get the Vintage Vice City Pack at no additional cost*Release Date / November 19, 2026Pre-load begins November 12, 2026Physical (Code-in-Box) Version AvailablePhysical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box.Estimated shipping date: November 12, 2026$79.99
Read that fourth line again. "A disc will not be included in the box." That is Rockstar, in writing, on its own storefront, about the physical version it is actually selling. It is unusually blunt language for a Rockstar release, and it is the clearest official statement that exists on the question.
The same page lists thirteen supported languages, verbatim and complete: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil). That count matches the "13 Supported languages" string on Microsoft's own consumer page.
The confirmed prices, from Microsoft's catalog records fetched between 2026-09-10T03:02:09Z and 03:02:14Z, all HTTP 200: the standard edition is 79.99 USD, the Ultimate Edition is 99.99 USD, and the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is 20.00 USD. No price moved anywhere this week, and no product record in Microsoft's catalog has been edited since 2 September.
There are five Grand Theft Auto VI product IDs in Microsoft's catalog and no sixth appeared. Two independent store-search queries, run at 2026-09-10T02:59:20Z, HTTP 200, 1,641 bytes, and at 03:14:26Z, HTTP 200, 1,990 bytes, returned the identical five IDs and no others. If a collector's edition were being registered as a purchasable product anywhere in the Microsoft ecosystem, that is where it would first show up, and it has not.
How to tell a real storefront record from a photograph of a box
This is the practical part, and it is worth internalising because this exact shape of claim will recur between now and 19 November.
A real product has an identifier. Microsoft products carry a ProductId such as 9P3H4968GRSM. PlayStation products carry a SKU string such as EP1004-PPSA01547_00-GTAVISTANDARD001. If a claimed edition has no identifier on any storefront, nobody is selling it yet.
A real product has a modification timestamp. Microsoft's catalog stamps a LastModifiedDate on every edit, however small. Every Grand Theft Auto VI record currently reads 2 September 2026. A new SKU cannot be created without moving that.
A real product has a price with a currency and a market attached. "It costs about $150" is not a storefront record.
A photograph proves the existence of an object, not the existence of a product. Press kits, influencer packages, mock-ups and unrelated packaging all photograph exactly like a retail edition, which is the point GTA BOOM made and which nobody has answered.
Check what the manufacturer has already said. Here, Rockstar has published a sentence that directly contradicts the viral detail, and it took under a minute to find.
What is and is not established
UNVERIFIED: that a Grand Theft Auto VI collector's edition box exists, is in production, or has been photographed. The claim is one anonymous account relaying one anonymous claimed worker, with no second source, no authentication, and the primary images deleted.
UNVERIFIED and walked back by the source: the disc. The source described "a circular piece where a disc could fit" and later downplayed the possibility, according to the one outlet that reported it.
CONFIRMED: the relay carried 590,890 views, 3,235 likes, 144 retweets and 107 replies when we captured it at 2026-09-10T03:06:52Z, from an account with 122,338 followers.
CONFIRMED: Rockstar's own store page states that physical versions contain a download code only and that a disc will not be included in the box, that pre-load begins 12 November 2026, that release is 19 November 2026, and that thirteen languages are supported.
CONFIRMED: $79.99 standard, $99.99 Ultimate, $20.00 upgrade, and five Grand Theft Auto VI product IDs in Microsoft's catalog with no sixth on two separate queries.
Explicitly not claimed: that the images are fake. Nobody has established that either. GTA BOOM's four innocent explanations, press kit, influencer package, mock-up, unrelated packaging, all remain live.
Explicitly withheld by us: the claimed worker's account handle, which one outlet published and we are not reproducing.
Our reading of the announced pricing is at $79.99 standard and $99.99 Ultimate, and the code-in-box and pre-load records are set out in our piece on the 12 November pre-load. The rest of today's storefront work is on the news desk.
