Rockstar Links Australia to a GTA 6 PS Store Page That 204s
by 6Charts TeamCategory: news8 min read
This desk fetched every source first hand. rockstargames.com/VI answered HTTP 200 at 1,011,725 bytes at 2026-09-24T03:00:40Z, and the string PPSA01547 appears 8 times in it while PPSA38500 and PPSA29660 appear 0 times. store.rockstargames.com/game/buy-gta-vi answered HTTP 200 at 1,064,041 bytes at 03:13:28Z and titles two of its six SKUs PlayStation First Party Link Out SKU (Global less AU,NZ,JP). A thirty locale sweep between 03:09:25Z and 03:16:32Z found 27 locales serving the PPSA01547 product page and three that do not: en-au, en-nz and ja-jp. The Australian request ends at a store error URL with widgetStatusCode=204. The AU and NZ concept pages embed PPSA38500 IDs, whose product pages answered HTTP 200 at 454,266 and 483,862 bytes. A GTA V control on the same locales returned HTTP 200, so the storefronts work. Prices, unlock times and the ACB ctc placeholder badge were read off the listings. The A$30 and NZ$35 edition gaps, the two local midnight conversions and the 56 day countdown are this desk's own arithmetic. The carve-out label is confirmed present today and not confirmed as new, and all testing was from a single egress point.
If you are in Australia or New Zealand and you click through to PlayStation from Rockstar's own Grand Theft Auto VI page, your store will not open the page you land on. Rockstar links to one PlayStation title ID. Sony serves Australia and New Zealand a different one. The link Rockstar publishes redirects to a PlayStation error page carrying status code 204 in both countries.
This desk swept thirty PlayStation Store locales, ran a control test to prove the two storefronts are not simply broken, and read the prices and unlock times off the listings those two countries do get.
What Rockstar publishes
CONFIRMED. rockstargames.com/VI answered HTTP 200 at 1,011,725 bytes, fetched at 2026-09-24T03:00:40Z and again at 03:17:34Z. Every storefront URL in that payload was extracted and de-duplicated. The two PlayStation links are:
store.playstation.com/product/EP1004-PPSA01547_00-GTAVISTANDARD001
store.playstation.com/product/EP1004-PPSA01547_00-GTAVIULTIMATE001
String counts run on the saved payload by this desk: PPSA01547 appears 8 times. PPSA38500 appears 0 times. PPSA29660 appears 0 times.
CONFIRMED. Rockstar's own store at store.rockstargames.com/game/buy-gta-vi answered HTTP 200 at 1,064,041 bytes at 2026-09-24T03:13:28Z. It embeds a SKU object with six records. Two of them are titled, verbatim, PlayStation First Party Link Out SKU (Global less AU,NZ,JP) and PlayStation First Party Link Out SKU 2 (Global less AU,NZ,JP). The string "Global less AU,NZ,JP" appears twice in that page. The two Xbox link-out SKUs carry no territory exclusion in their titles.
Rockstar knows the carve-out exists. It is written into the name of the SKU. This is also not new practice: the GTA V product record on the same store carries titles including GTA V PREMIUM EDITION PS4 SIEA less US/CA (Link Out), so territory carve-outs in SKU names are routine there. What is unusual is that the excluded countries get a link anyway.
What Australia and New Zealand actually get
CONFIRMED. The PPSA01547 standard SKU URL was requested in thirty locales with a desktop browser user agent and redirects followed, between 2026-09-24T03:09:25Z and 03:16:32Z. Twenty-seven locales served a real product page. Three did not: en-au, en-nz and ja-jp. The Australian request ended at, verbatim:
store.playstation.com/en-au/error?productId=EP1004-PPSA01547_00-GTAVISTANDARD001&widgetErrorType=emptyRequiredBatarang&widgetRoute=game-title&widgetStatusCode=204
The same error redirect came back for the Australian Ultimate SKU and for both New Zealand SKUs. Japan is served by a different ID entirely, JP0230-PPSA29660_00, which returned HTTP 200 at 401,630 bytes. This desk has written about that Japanese ID before, in the three PS5 title IDs piece.
CONFIRMED. Australia and New Zealand are served by a third ID. The GTA 6 concept page returned HTTP 200 at 504,280 bytes on en-au and 503,756 bytes on en-nz at 2026-09-24T03:16:01Z, and the product IDs embedded in those two pages are, verbatim, EP1004-PPSA38500_00-GTAVISTANDARD001, EP1004-PPSA38500_00-GTAVIULTIMATE001 and EP1004-PPSA38500_00-ULTEDTIONUPGRADE. The same concept page on en-gb, en-us and ko-kr embeds the PPSA01547 IDs.
Direct requests on the PPSA38500 product pages all answered HTTP 200 at 2026-09-24T03:16:32Z, at 454,266 and 483,862 and 318,276 bytes for Australia, and 453,694 and 483,290 and 317,704 bytes for New Zealand. So the listings exist. Rockstar just does not link to them.
The control test
CONFIRMED. To rule out a broken storefront rather than a missing product, this desk requested the Grand Theft Auto V concept page on the same two locales at 2026-09-24T03:15:34Z. It returned HTTP 200 with no error redirect on en-au, en-nz, en-gb, en-us and ja-jp. The Australian and New Zealand stores work. It is the PPSA01547 GTA 6 SKU specifically that they do not serve, because they have their own.
What the Australian and New Zealand listings say
CONFIRMED, read off the pages themselves at 2026-09-24T03:16:32Z:
CountryStandardUltimateUltimate upgradeUnlock shown on the listing
Australia$129.95$159.95Not available for purchase18/11/2026 01:00 PM UTC
New Zealand$139.95$174.95Not available for purchase18/11/2026 11:00 AM UTC
The Australian standard page also carries the strings PS5 Pro Enhanced, 1-month GTA+ subscription with pre-order., Pre-Order and Country/Region: Australia.
Two pieces of arithmetic here are this desk's own. First, the edition gap. Australia pays A$30.00 to move from Standard to Ultimate and New Zealand pays NZ$35.00, against US$20.00 in the United States and GBP 20.00 in the United Kingdom. Second, the unlock times are both local midnight: 18 November 13:00 UTC plus eleven hours of Australian Eastern Daylight Time is 19 November 00:00 local, and 18 November 11:00 UTC plus thirteen hours of New Zealand Daylight Time is 19 November 00:00 local. Our regional unlock table is at the local midnight unlock breakdown.
The rating badge on those two listings
CONFIRMED. The age rating image Sony serves on both the Australian and New Zealand pages is, verbatim, image.api.playstation.com/grc/images/ratings/4k/acb/ctc.png. In the Australian Classification scheme, "ctc" is the Check the Classification placeholder used for a title that has not been classified. With 56 days to go to 19 November 2026, which is this desk's own arithmetic, Sony is still serving Australian buyers a placeholder in the ratings slot. This desk has previously had to correct a fabricated Australian classification record, and that piece is at the ratings record forgery check.
What this desk did not establish
Four limits, stated plainly.
First, this desk cannot date the carve-out label. The Rockstar Store page sends no last-modified header and the archive host that would settle it was not reachable from here. The "(Global less AU,NZ,JP)" label is confirmed as present today and is not confirmed as new this week.
Second, every request came from one egress point. This desk could not test what rockstargames.com/VI serves to a browser physically located in Australia. The page is a Next.js prerender with hard-coded product URLs, and the PPSA38500 ID appears zero times in the payload that was served here, which is strong evidence and not the same thing as testing from an Australian address. That distinction matters and it is why it is printed.
Third, the two physical SKUs on Rockstar's own store report "stockAvailable":0. That field is ambiguous. It may mean no stock, or it may mean stock is not tracked for a pre-order. It is not reported here as a sell-out.
Fourth, Rockstar's store served this desk records marked "country":"US", and this desk could not make it serve Australian records.
What to actually do about it
If you are in Australia or New Zealand, do not pre-order by following the PlayStation button on Rockstar's GTA 6 page. Open the PlayStation Store app or site on your own account, search for Grand Theft Auto VI, and buy from the listing your store serves you, which will carry the PPSA38500 identifier. You will pay A$129.95 or NZ$139.95 for Standard, the Ultimate upgrade path is showing as not available for purchase, and your unlock is local midnight on 19 November.
If you are anywhere else, the Rockstar link works and lands on PPSA01547, with the exception of Japan, which has its own listing under JP0230-PPSA29660_00. Thirty locales were tried and all thirty are served, under three different title IDs. That count is this desk's own tally of its own sweep.
